Come and talk to me about bleeding circa 7 weeks with a heartbeat

This happened to me this evening. Had a transvaginal and an abdominal ultrasound and heartbeat clear on both.

If you had something similar did you have a healthy baby at the end of it and did you ever get to the bottom of why it happened?

Don't sugar coat it for me- I've had a worrying evening and whilst I'm feeling much more positive than I was, I never had a single bit of bleeding with my 18 month old DD.

Thanks again everyone. I'm swinging between thinking it's all going to be fine and being very much of the mindset that I'm going to lose this one. Got backache today and tired but bleeding (touch wood) hasn't got worse. It dried up entirely all day yesterday and then when I breastfed my daughter on Sunday evening I had some brown blood mixed with cervical mucus. Dried up again and then this afternoon same stuff- brown and only when I wipe. It's a head fuck.

If it's like that I'd say you're likely to be okay. A loss would normally get progressively worse.

I haven't experienced a loss but have had bleeding in a healthy pregnancy and it's like what you say

FellOut I feel you. After four days of not bleeding, I dared to relax a bit... but nope, another gush in the afternoon Angry It has stopped again now though and I have no cramps but my nerves are in tatters.

I have made an appointment with another gyno to ask for a second opinion, I am seeing him on Friday. If there is nothing I can do, there is nothing I can do but I need to at least try to keep this pregnancy... 10 + 1 today with a good scan at 9 + 3 is the absolute furthest I ever got and I am not sure I would have the energy and spirit to try again if this one does not work out.

Sorry for the rant, I am so so so fucked off.

EricaJ · 18/01/2016 15:32

And I will of course report back if this gyno comes up with new reasons for bleeding during healthy pregnancies!

EricaJ I am so sorry to hear your story. I'm feeling quite flat and defeated but not sure why. Saw my GP yesterday who was very reassuring, gave me an internal and said all looked good but there is still some brown on and off when I wipe and I can't shake this anxiety. My next scan is not for another 10 days so I guess I've just got to sit tight. Please, let me know how you get on. Everything crossed for you.

ugh, felloutofbedtwice and ericaj - i really, really feel you.

first things first - i'm still pregnant, 12+1 (touch wood, dating scan isn't until next week).

BUT - yes, i had a bleed at 6.5 weeks, absolutely heartbroken and convinced i'd MC'd since I previously had a MMC and the only sign was some brown spotting. trudged into the EPU for an internal u/s only to be utterly shocked to see a heartbeat. the monographer told me i had a subchorionic haematoma, very small, almost too small too see (but big enough to scare the shit out of me with a sudden bleed, clearly).

it died down after a couple of weeks but came back twice, once at about 8 weeks and so frustratingly, after 3 weeks of no spotting whatsoever, suddenly at 11 weeks too. all three times i've had scans and everything has been FINE.

don't be afraid of the 'dildocam', it's the only one that lets you get a clear view from some angles, which could very well be where a haematoma is hiding. and it's so much better to know where the bleed's coming from. (also, let's be frank - presumably it was something of roughly the same dimensions that got you into this situation, so sure you can handle it! Grin it's really not painful at all, honestly!]

in my case, the SCH is completely separate from the gestational sac so doesn't pose any real issues besides being bloody scary when it rears its head.

if there's an EPU near you, please just go in for a scan, to ease your mind. and good luck x
