1st trimester- time off work

Hi ladies, just wondering if anyone is in the same situation as me. I'm 12 weeks pregnant and have already had around 2 weeks off due to terrible nausea and bleeding. I had an early scan at around 10 weeks which showed baby was fine, however since then I've had more bleeding and am really upset and stressed about the whole thing. I've got my 12 week scan this Thursday which I'm really nervous about. My question is... Has anyone else had a lot of time off in their first trimester for nausea and bleeding? If so how were their workplace with them? Mine were supportive at first, however are now are being really funny with me about it and have said they 'have concerns about the amount of time I've had off'. This is making me feel even more stressed and worked up as I don't want to phone in sick but feel like I'm not in a fit state to go in. The whole situation has made me feel like I'm being silly and should just suck it up and go in to work regardless. I had a miscarriage around 7 months ago so still have the worry of that in the back of my mind too.

Are they aware of the pregancy? If so, and given your previous MC then it does seem heartless of them to question you.

Could it be that they are asking as they are concerned for you rather than a "you need to be back now"?

I would go and get a Fit Note from the GP, rather than just ad hoc sick days.

I would just tell them and get the dr to sign you off. I had horrible morning sickness and ended up with a week signed off and a few days here and there.

Yes, they know I'm pregnant and my previous history. My manager was very supportive when the first bleed occurred, however has really changed his tune since the last absence. Even his whole attitude towards me has changed. Thanks for your help ladies, think a trip to the GP may be in order.

Now that they know it is pg related, there legally is nothing they can do. It doesnt count as sick towards your overall sickness record.

Doesnt change their attitude, some people are just twats. But at least you dont have to worry about your job.

You're totally right! Some people are just twats. Think I need to remember that the next time he starts and remember my job is safe. Thank you x

I have been off for around 5 weeks now with another 2 signed off today as I have Hyperemisis (sorry for dodgy spelling) which started at week 6 and got unbearable at week 7. My new line manager is being a pain, but since it's pregnancy related and I've told them that, they can't penalise me for it. Try not to worry about it if you can, you don't need the extra stress.
