Can anyone advise what to wear during and after labour?

This is going to sound ridiculous to many of you, I'm sure, but I'm quite shy and self conscious and although I appreciate the hospital staff are going to see my body I don't want everything out on show if I can avoid it, especially right after the birth when I'm snuggling with my newborn.

I have a knee length short sleeve jersey nightshirt for labour but thinking this won't be great for modesty as soon as baby born because it would need to be removed or pulled right up for breastfeeding / skin to skin.

Any ideas what I can buy?

I just wore a hospital gown. They are roomy, and I didn't have to worry an out getting blood etc on my own clothes.

You might be surprised by how little you care about being seen naked though!

I was the same (ie wanting to cover up a bit) and bought a button down nighty. Ended up so hot I stripped butt naked and really didn't care less. Had baggy (dark coloured!!!) pjs with vest tops for after as easy to slide down straps for BF. Take more than one pair. I went through about one pair of bottoms an hour in the first day. Absolutely nightmare!

Another one who bought a button down nightie and never wore it. I was boiling hot and screaming in pain so ended up in a bra and nothing else.
I thought I'd care beforehand....Erm, no.
