Where does a Breech baby kick

Has anyone tell me where a breech baby would normal kick?

I'm 37 weeks on Tuesday and was told my the MW on Friday that my baby might be breech (head down up until then).

I'm having kicks/jabs on my far right side and the occasional under rib.

Feeling a bit down about it as up until then I was full steam ahead for a HB.

Won't know for certain until they give me a scan next week so fingers crossed....

are yo having an independent midwife? she might be willing to deliver you at home even if baby breech?

Mercy · 17/12/2006 17:26

On the bladder in my case!

Good luck, a week is long enough for your db to turn - ds did this at 38 weeks.

NickNatNoo · 17/12/2006 17:27

Hi,

No, unfortunatly not having an independent midwife, can it still turn as late as 37 weeks?

I'm not personally convinced it IS breech - hence my question about the kicks.

I think it would depend on the type of breech- if it's bum first (can't remember the technical term) then the legs would be high up anyway, wouldn't they? I've had one breech and one not, and the kicks felt pretty similar.

babies can turn late...esp if not engaged yet.....

MerryChipmonkAndAHappyNewey · 17/12/2006 17:43

NickNatNoo, my ds1 was an "extended" breech which I think is the most common kind for a first baby. They are not curled up in the foetal position, their legs are straight and their feet are at their ears! Most of the movements I felt were just under my ribs where his head was.

TwinkleTwinkleLupinsXmasLights · 19/12/2006 08:06

I used to get headbutted in the ribs, mosst uncomfortable

hope baby turns for you, Lisa xx

Ds1 was frank breech. He really couldn't move around much. I would feel what seemed to be flutters from his hands near my cervix and some wiggles at the sides occasionally but with his feet up by his ears there was little that he could actually do.

DD was footling breech (feet down) and used to stomp on my bladder. But she used to thump my ribs and the top of my belly too and I couldn't really tell the difference between thumps and kicks. Her head was stuck under my ribs, but she was in the same position from about 22 weeks, and they kept telling me it was her boney little bum that I could feel! (Until 38.5 weeks when they sent me for a scan).

Our ds1's were obviously the same kind of breech then, jabberwocky! They did try in the hospital to move ds1 but this type of breech is much harder to turn than the others. Didn't work for me anyway and was so uncomfortable I wouldn't recommend it!

jabberwocky · 20/12/2006 05:55

At least they figured out yours ahead of time chipmonkey! Silly mw kept telling me ds1 was head down and even engaged
I kept asking why he didn't move much and when he did it was rather odd...those flutters at the cervix for example.

Sould have tried out the new emoticon.
