Breast pump recomendations?

Advice on which ones to consider and which ones to avoid, please?

Ive pumped for two babies - 1s time I used an avent electric pump- it was ok. Second time I used a medela swing which was much better- got loads of milk out quickly

Not used it yet as baby not due for another 8 weeks, but everyone I asked recommended the Medela Swing without hesitation so that's what I've bought.

I used an ameda lactaline, a hospital grade pump, as I exclusively expressed. It meant I could double pump. The only disadvantage was that it isn't very portable.

I recently bought a Spectra S1. The pump is great, the bottles it comes with are a bit shit, but it fits avent bottles. Sadly not tommee tippee ones we have loads of!

I use medela harmony as a manual which works perfectly for me. Used tommee tippee manual before which was terrible!

Spectra S1 is great. It's medical grade, very quiet, can be used as double pump, very efficient and gets 150ml milk off each breast in 10mins.

TT electric pump was awful, very noisy and can't adjust cycle speed.

Avoid anything that's an open system - very unhygienic.

I second the spectra s1. Quiet, closed system, very efficient.

I had a basic boots one wasn't electric was really bad!

Medela is a great brand, Swing or Swing Maxi if double pumping. However, it is not a closed system and I used to get milk going back down the tubes sometimes which was a royal pain and can cause issues in the battery compartment. I was a full time pumper so used it a lot.

Switched to an Ameda Purely Yours (old version) which I got second hand from eBay. It was brilliant, much quieter, a double compared to ameda single and easy to use. But it died after about 8 months and when I replaced it with a second hand but brand new pump that was the same it was terrible. They are now manufactured in China instead of Switzerland and it shows.

I moved onto a hired Ameda hospital grade and it was AMAZING. Pumped soooo much milk (in my first 12 months I had so much I donated 120+L to other mums and babies through HM4HB FB pages).

Definitely don't go for anything other than Ameda or Medela.

Forgot to add that Ameda is closed system. Much better in that respect as well.

Take a google of medela swing open system. The mould is nasty

I bought the Medela Swing, quite expensive but definitely worth it. I'd tried a couple of different brands of manual pumps and they were just crap, I think one was a Boot's own brand, they ended up in the bin out of sheer frustration!
