I'm 37+4 and curious. In the last 24 hrs I've had a lot of twinges, developed a cold, gone spotty and lost my appetite! Probably means nothing but wondering when you knew it was starting?

When an hour following the pessary induction contractions started and I called DP to tell him it hurts but that I was of my face on gas and air and that he should stay in bed (he only left me an hour previously as he was told it would take hours and we hadn't slept for days). At this point the midwife took the phone and calmly told him that no, he shouldn't stay in bed, not unless he wants to miss the birth.

I gave birth to my daughter two hours later. And apparently the midwife wasn't calm at all when talking to him Blush

I woke up in the middle of the night all wet down there. He was a week early. We had to phone b.i.law who had been out drinking earlier, to come and get daughter. So he had to spend a fortune in cab fares?!. 32 hours later my son was born, forceps delivery and 3rd degree year?!

Oops I mean tear

My waters broke

doceodocere · 30/12/2015 05:53

My waters broke in my first pregnancy. Contractions started a few hours later. I ended up with an emergency c-section 3 days later!

Last time I had a planned c-section, and am currently 35 weeks with another section planned for 4 weeks from now. But I have been having a LOT of painful braxton hicks and twinges, caught a cold, had little appetite. and not slept for more than 30min at a time for the last 2 nights. So I wonder.

scarednoob · 30/12/2015 10:50

.... They shoved a pessary up me ;)

Alisvolatpropiis · 30/12/2015 10:52

My waters broke when I was in bed. Took a further 3 hours for contractions to start though.

Tigs0609 · 30/12/2015 11:50

I had really bad backache, loose bowels, was sick and I couldn't sit down because the pressure hurt too much. After this, I lost my mucus plug... That was when I knew. I'd refused to believe it up until that point.

Finola1step · 30/12/2015 11:54

With ds, when I threw up..

With DD, when I started getting a very tight pain across my tummy and into my back. Just as dh had left, in the snow, to collect ds.

Finola1step · 30/12/2015 11:54

Oh and my waters didn't break until near delivery.

MintyBojingles · 30/12/2015 19:44

When I vomited.

leaningtoweroflego · 30/12/2015 19:48

First time, when my waters broke.

Second time, when the period-pain-like back pain I'd had all night started coming in waves, not that painful but pretty close together (the painful-pain came soon after).

leaningtoweroflego · 30/12/2015 19:50

Second time, I didn't notice my waters breaking at all, must have happened in labour

BathshebaDarkstone · 30/12/2015 19:51

The midwife performed a sweep and I got a massive contraction! I was booked in for an induction but I didn't need it! Grin

Doublebubblebubble · 30/12/2015 19:53

When they stuck the propess in my hooha (induced at 40+12 for ds 10 weeks 4 days) end up having an emcs anyway because the induction failed as per apparently

There was no real knowing that DD(6) was coming.... Only a 4.5 hour labour. I went from 2cms to 10 in an hour... Totally caught the midwives off-guard lol x

mamaneedsamojito · 30/12/2015 19:56

When I lost my mucus plug. It was huge and looked like a half-set jelly in my knickers. Boak.

ALR123 · 30/12/2015 20:01

Haha! How long after you lost your mucus plug did you start having contractions? I'm 38 weeks now and no signs of anything....

With Ds2 we were out for lunch and I ordered a coke to drink. I hate coke. My body must have known I needed a sugar rush DS2 born about 6 hours later.

leaningtoweroflego · 30/12/2015 20:10

I didn't see my mucus plug either time.

mamaneedsamojito · 30/12/2015 21:44

It started to come out a couple of days before in small pieces then a lot (it covered the whole gusset in my knickers) came out during the afternoon on the day I went into labour. Mild contractions started at 10pm that night (followed by a bloody show as I showered shortly afterwards) and he was born less than 8 hours later.
