ok......can someone help me make sense of this please?

I got a positive pregnancy test on the 4th December (10 days ago)

I was 2 days late for my period then. So about day 30 of my cycle.

Over the following days I did a few more tests and they were positive with the lines getting darker.

I have had all the usual early preg symptoms - nausea, tiredness, sore boobs, blue veins, metallic taste. Altho they have died off a bit this week.

Anyway started bleeding yesterday which has carried on til today so midwife sent me for an early scan at the epu.

They did a preg test that was faintly positive.

Then did an internal scan - she said that there wasnt really anything there. She could see a tiny empty sac that could possibly be a very early pregnancy but like about 3.5-4 weeks.

If I first tested positive 10 days ago that would have made me only 2.5-3 weeks pregnant when I tested - is it possible to get a positive test then? I would have barely conceived by then!!

Is it mroe likely that the pregnancy stopped at 4 weeks?

I have had my blood taken and have to ring in the morning to make appt to go and get it taken again to see what the HCG levels are doing.

Any insight would be great

it sounds like it, if the hcg is rising thats a v good sign. do you still FEEL pregnant?

I had convinced myself I didnt but Im still a bit retchy and have sore boobs.

hopefully the scan on wednesday will reveal a little baby with a heartbeat (i sooooooooooo hope)

shouldnt the hcg of more than doubled over 4 days if things were going to be ok'?

When I m/c and was ttc afterwards I found pregnancyloss.info a brilliant forum - I just checked it and it has changed somewhat since I used it, has added tickers etc, but I'm sure it is still very useful.

One little ray of hope pecka might be that you could have had what they call a vanishing twin. I conceived with twins but when I had a scan at 10 weeks they found one heart beat and an empty sac. The 'vanishing twin' just gets reabsorbed by the body so you don't have a period or anything because of the continuing pregnancy. Might explain levels going up and down. Also scanners aren't looking for two sacs at this point and cos they're so small they can be easily missed. Hope that this will be the case for you.

Pecka best of luck for wednesday!
It's so difficult to say anything, as really no one can know!
When pg I had bleeding before, and 2 times it meant miscarriage and one time I didn't...forinstance...!
A friend of mine was pg with Twins the time before now, and even though with Twins theoretically you should show earlier in a test and HCG should raise quickly, she did't show up as pregnant for a long time...so,who knows eh!
Also, it always depends on the quality of the tests...which doesn't necessaily mean the price of them, but more what sort of sensitivity they have! some tests detect lower hcg then others, iykwim!
