Can anyone tell me why the people that sit around me in the office talk about food all day? And why do they insist on going out and buying the most disgusting smelling foods for lunch?

I'm pregnant, and I cant tell anyone and this lot are making me feel so sick!!!!!!! Arghghghghghghg...

Anyone else's nose as sensitive as a bloodhound right now?

Thanks for allowing me to moan!

Yes, I can constantly smell wet dog from my coleagues if they go out in the rain. I want to shout at them and say dont go out in that rain you'll just come back semlly.

I was at the hairdressers today and had to leave because my hairdresser had been eating sourkraut

nuttygirl · 13/12/2006 15:46

For the first 3 months I hd to run past the milk aisle in the supermarket holding my nose but the smell of washing powder....mmmm...yummy

daisymlaisy · 13/12/2006 15:51

Yes , I'm 14 weeks pregnant and my smell is so sensitive. I'm hating the smell of washing straight out of the machine, so much so that if I attempt to hang it out to dry, I am immediately sick, so have to leave it for my dh to do when he gets home from an 11 hour day. He's been really good about it, but lately is beginning to get really fed up and keeps asking me how long its going to last....I may just make it last forever !

bubblebell1 · 13/12/2006 15:54

im 32 weeks pregnant and still have a nose like a blood hound. i cant let dh near me and the washing was a pain for me too at 1 point i thought the washing machine was broken and not washing things properly. i changed my fab con and it is ok now.

steffy1 · 13/12/2006 15:56

urrrhhhh . . .

just bringing the sensation back to me of when i was pg with ds1 and couldnt stand the smell of onions!

BettySpaghetti · 13/12/2006 16:03

When I was pregnant with both DD and DS I couldn't stand the smell of fridges -the waft when the door was opened was unbearable (not just my fridge but anyones, just in case you're thinking I had a aprticularly smelly fridge )

paulaplumpbottom · 13/12/2006 16:04

I'm having trouble filling up my car to. The smell of gas is making me sick.

Myfairone · 13/12/2006 16:27

Oh how I love this website! I feel human again! Or not as the case may be....I'm wondering if holding my breath is doing me or my baby any good?!?

I am constantly either deep breathing when I think the air is safe, or holding my breath till I think the smell has gone!

All part of the fun!

Have a great 'smell free' day everyone!

I think adversion to smells is a great way to stop grocery shopping

tidyjane · 13/12/2006 21:14

Smells that made me heave for the first 3 months:
Earl grey tea (that's all I used to drink pre pregnancy), fruity hand wash, fruity hand cream or body lotion, fruity washing up liquid.
Now that I am 25 weeks, I'm beginning to "crave" smells like bleach, petrol and wet washing (only with a specific fabric conditionner that I'm using at the moment. It's the ASDA's own, lime flavour. Sorry fragrance!!

feedmechristmaspuddingnow · 13/12/2006 21:17

Not about smells making me sick but when pg with DD I LOVED the smell of tar, creosote, industrial paint, etc. My dp used to laugh at me cos I'd loiter round the back of workmens lorries and vans sniffing them (the vans, NOT the workmen!!)!

Myfairone · 14/12/2006 04:53

Feedme, I now have visions of you hanging around workmen just to get a whiff!
Of course it made me feel sick to think of it but it was worth the laugh!

Oh and incase anyone is wondering, yes it is 5am and my MS (whoever called it 'Morning' needs a serious talking to!) or should I say 'myalldaysickness' has me awake!

Ginger biscuit anyone?

I couldn't stand the smell of washing powder on my clean sheets - had to swap to an unscented brand.

Also the smell of basil(the herb ) and cooking generally.

dp's morning onion breath was the giveaway that I was pregnant.

Also had a guy at work with repulsive BO & I wanted to heave whenever he came near or had even been in a room. Had to go to HR in the end.

Harry2007 · 14/12/2006 08:35

Hi everyone!

At 34 weeks, I am still convinced that there's a repulsive smell coming from underneath my fridge even though I've pulled the fridge out on 3 occasions and cleaned the floor scrupulously - no -one else can smell it and I'm driving dp mad!

Also,I had a slight craving for pancakes with maple syrup at about 28 weeks so dp dutifully went to M&S to buy the syrup and made me pancakes on his return. Problem is, I have been able to smell fat on my curtains ever since - again, no-one else can smell it and I've used about 3 bottles of Febreze!

Pregnancy is a funny old thing!

Myfairone · 15/12/2006 04:38

I still dont see the connection between my nose and my stomach! hehehee

My poor dog has been bathed so much lately, he is so clean I could eat my dinner off of him! Well at least, I would if I didnt feel so sick!

Thanks for the smiles ladies
