Pregnant after MC, can't shake the dread...

I found out I was pregnant again immediately after a MMC and ERPC. After a very hesitant couple of weeks, I'd just started feeling a bit of happy anticipation, but then suddenly last Friday I had a dark brown bleed and my symptoms tailed off - exactly what happened with the MMC.

After spending the weekend in despair convinced I'd lost a second pregnancy, I had a scan on Monday that showed a tiny embryo with a heartbeat. I was reassured for about a day, but my symptoms (sore boobs, queasiness) have almost gone again (after coming back on Monday when I had the scan).

Has anyone had a similarly bumpy start to a pregnancy and it's worked out ok? Are other people's symptoms coming and going like this? I feel this total sense of dread all day long and I don't know how to shake it.

mummy2twobabies, scarednoob, badgerface and wombofonesown thank you SO much for all your support and loveliness - truly can't tell you how much calmer you helped me feel since last week.

I had my scan yesterday, and to my total and utter shock (i was sobbing before the nurse even said anything), it showed a tiny embryo still hanging in there, apparently measuring exactly right for dates and with a tiny beating heart. i couldn't stop weeping for about an hour afterwards. i was so convinced it was going to be another MC that i'd already bought pads in readiness.

they did find a subchorionic hematoma which is where the bleeding's coming from. the nurse said it's quite small (only about 1cm) and said not to worry about it, but obviously that's easier said than done when every trip to the loo involves blood! still reassuring to know where it's coming from.

i'm still petrified but it's good news for now, which is far more than i'd dared to hope for. i'll keep you posted - and if anyone's had a SCH i'd love to hear how it all turned out.

Flowers and Cake to all you amazing ladies x

What lovely news Flowers

That's brilliant news I'm so happy for you. This has put a big smile on my face.

I'm so pleased for you! I read the thread yesterday and held off commenting until after your scan. I've been in a very similar situation OP - I've had 3 MCs in the last 2 years and am currently 10weeks into my 4th pregnancy. I had bleeding and pain from 5 weeks this time and like you was convinced it was an MC. I had a scan at 6+2 and was in pieces to see a heartbeat and be told everything looked OK. The bleeding and pains continued for 3 weeks - they couldn't tell where the bleeding was coming from though. I had another scan at 9+2 and all was still well with heartbeat and size. So, whilst we're not out of the woods yet, and like you I'm still terrified, let's try and stay positive for now! Grin
Such a shame that MC takes the joy out of early pregnancy. I'm just hoping that I (and you) can relax more as things progress. For now though, every day seems like an eternity. I have a harmony test and scan booked for next Monday so at least will be able to see if everything's OK before Christmas.
Best of luck OP, and congratulations.

Hurray hurray hurray!! Great news!! And the fact that there is an obvious reason for the bleeding hopefully helps even though it won't entirely boot the anxiety into touch (understandably).

I had my 36 week scan today. You'll be here before you know it... Smile

oh that's fabulous news! Remember, that heartbeat means you're SO likely to take home a baby with you. I looked at a six-second video of my baby's heartbeat on repeat, sometimes for 10-15 minutes at a stretch(!), to calm my anxieties during those early tentative weeks.
