Triple Dry in pregnancy - will it have harmed the baby?

I am going quietly mad now, only found out I was pg on Monday but have been using Triple Dry. Can't find the accompanying leaflet to see if ti's suitable for pg women, and ahve just googles one of the ingredients and it can cause birth defects.

Am going out of my mind with worry now. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

DarrellRivers · 13/12/2006 13:10

What's triple dry?

PeckaRolloverAgain · 13/12/2006 13:12

is it one of those special deodorants?

Gingerbear · 13/12/2006 13:12

Anti-perspirant?

Gingerbear · 13/12/2006 13:14

Don't panic, just stop using it. If you are only just PG, I doubt it will have had any effects.

lulumama · 13/12/2006 13:15

i imagine that the tiny quantity of whatever it is that can cause defects, that is in this product is not going to harm your baby...

you are spraying in onto your skin , not ingesting it

NHS direct have a list of toxic substances , might be worth calling them, or call a local pharmacy for reassurance

DarrellRivers · 13/12/2006 13:20

It probably is dangerous if you ingest it in large quantities so say if you were eating it.
As it is, I'm sure the active ingredient is in small quantities in the anti-perspirant and you were only applying it topically, there not much internal ingestion.
Don't worry

BibiJesus · 13/12/2006 13:28

Sorry guys, it's a roll on anti-perspirant for excessive sweating (yuk I know!).

I have only used it once every 3 days and can only have been "pg" for 2 weeks at the most, so I am reassured by your posts, thanks. I will check that toxic substances website though, and if Im' still worried will go see the Dr.

Thanks

Blimey, i hadn't thought about that (i am a fellow user and just discovered i am pregnant too - how weird is that)

i have dug out the box and the ingredients are;
Cyclomethicone
Aliminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrex GLY
Dimethicone
C18-36 acid triglyceride
Tribehenin

i'll check it out later too.

Many congrats by the way.

sorry just re read the thread and i think you might have the box. I have checked the leaflet and there is no mention of it being harmful if pregnant, it just says do not apply to broken or irriated skin, discontinue if irritation accouts and it is not a vaginal deodorant!!!

bumperlicious · 17/12/2006 20:11

Hi guys,
Just to add my 2p worth, I was worried coz I used Driclor (similar thing I think) when I was 1st pg. Dr said not to worry but she did say to stop using it.
Sure everything is fine but you may want to have a break from it (and if anyone has any more natural solutions they would be very welcome!).
Welcome to sweaty betty world!

BibiJesus · 18/12/2006 09:45

I snuck a peek in a box in Tesco the other night and although the leaflet didn't mention pg I might discontinue use anyway, just in case.

Anyone know what else I could use?
