Or 'wish list.'?

This is my 2nd pregnancy and I am pretty much writing everything I wanted for my first again. Such as:

-water birth
-aromatherapy
-medicine ball
-low lighting
-wheat bags
-moving lots
-g&a (that autocorrected to G&T; I wish!)
-skin to skin

Sounds a bit airy fairy but that would be my ideal scenario.

First time I was induced 3 times, at 40+12 on a drip so couldn't move about or get in a pool. It was really bloody painful. Really praying for no synthetic labour this time!

What's the most important thing for your ideal labour?

Mines currently a bit off the wall as its DC2. DC1 was born in poor condition (e.g. not breathing) and then spent 8 weeks in hospital. I know I want less intervention... But I'm hoping for my waters to break in M&S or Mothercare (which are just up the road from me), regular contractions to start immediately, give birth with just a TENS within 4 hours in the midwife led unit, then home in 4 hours, with no overnight stay... But I have to get to 37 weeks (DC1 was born at 34weeks) and as I'm still under consultant care it might just be pie in the sky. But I can hope!

Didn't have one for first and 2nd will say that I went from 2cm to 10cm in 2 hours last time - please be aware. ...

I feel there's always a theme in people s 'birth plans' usually involving water and whale music.

Most successful plans? Don't have one. Be prepared that anything can happen.

Sorry but that comes from years of friends not being prepared for that last minute induction or trip to theatre and never getting over that they never used their whale music CD.

Spinal/epidural
Please can I have the handsome anaesthesiologist again, pretty please!
Have a chat with the Consultant while they open me up.
Hold new baby while they close me up.
Enjoy some Oramorph and the fact I don't have to get up and wee for at least 12 hrs.
Snuggle new baby while DH takes pictures and texts/phones family.

It may be very different to most but its perfect to me :)
I hope we all get what we want the way we want

I'm 35 weeks and no-one's mentioned a birth plan to me.

If anyone does ask me, my plan is to go with the flow. Sure, I'd quite like a water birth with minimum need for pain relief or intervention, but if the room's busy or the baby's in distress or I'm howling in pain then I'll take whatever helps. I'm not going to be a hero about it. I'm trying not to have too many expectations either way (good or bad). I'm not particularly anxious about it or perhaps I'm blissfully ignorant - not sure which. I'm way more worried about actually looking after a little baby!

I don't have one.
I used to work in paediatrics and have been at many deliveries where any sort of 'birth plan' went out of the window very quickly. Getting home with a well wee one, a non-traumatised husband and an intact pelvic floor if possible will do me.

Littlemissjt · 04/12/2015 15:45

Dh telling me the sex of the baby was the only thing on my plan.

WeeseKeysAreThese · 04/12/2015 16:08

I had a horrendous labour the first time, this time I was hoping to feel a bit more in control but I'm expecting twins so I think ill just have to go with the flow. At the moment both are transverse so it looks like a cs will be on the cards anyway Confused

Ah well, my plan all went tits up. Born by emergency c section at 36 weeks 2 days ago. But as long as I have a lovely snuggly baby that's all that matters.

*As much gas and air as i'm allowed (got high as a kite on it with dd,wonderful stuff) and take pain relief in stages
*Delayed cord clamping
*Happy for student midwife to be present
*beware of potential fast labour - went from 4cm to baby and placenta out in 60minutes with my first
*Get it out!!!
