Am having a sweep done next Wednesday and was just wondering people's experiences and if it's actually worth it. Will be 39 +6 when have it and just unsure weather to wait and let things naturally happen or give it ago, have heard it can be very uncomfortable.

Sorry, but I had an attempted sweep at 39 weeks. I was literally screaming because it was that painful and she had to stop because my cervix was so hard to reach! I guess everyone is different though. I think mine was so painful because I was nowhere near ready to go into labour though.

Had one. It worked. Much better than induction! I have a high tilted cervix too.

Forgot to say it was completely painless!

I had one at 40+5. My midwife said she was excellent at sweeps, but when she looked she said she didn't think I'd go into labour anytime soon but she'd still have a go. It was uncomfortable but not painful. I went into labour the next evening!

Uncomfortable, but not unbearable.

Worse than useless though. Made not one jot of difference. Will never have another.
