I'm five-week pregnant at the moment. My partner and I have known for nearly two weeks and we decided to keep it between us until 12 week because the 1st trimester can be a bit risky. I can't help but wonder if we are doing the right thing because every time we see our friends and families we feel like we're lying to them.
So I was wondering when you made your announcements, what kind of reception you got and whether you wish you'd waited or told everyone sooner.

We told a few close friends after our early scan at 9 weeks, told our families when we had an opportunity to do it face to face (DH told his family at 14 weeks when he was back in Ireland for a weekend, we told my family at 16 weeks when they came to visit us) and we put it up on FB at 16 weeks after we had told everyone on my side that didn't already know.

We know the gender (team blue!) but will only be telling people that at Christmas because again we want to tell those closest to us face to face first.

I told my mum once I found out (8 weeks) and we told DH's parents at 9 weeks after I had a bleed and an early scan showed baby being A-OK (we had a previous MMC so were cautious of letting the world know).

Told friends after 12 week scan.

I prefer not to put up on Facebook not because I'm worried about jinxing it but more out of sensitivity for friends that are trying / struggling/ who had had losses recently.
