Hi Everyone,
I am 33 weeks pregnant, my baby is breach. I already have 2 dd's. My first dd was breach from 20 weeks, and was born breach naturally. I don't think this baby will turn head down now, and neither does my mw. She said she will book me in for a scan in a few weeks and the ECV clinic. I don't want an ecv as I have heard it can cause problems, and 50% of babies turn back anyway. I also don't want a c-section as I had my first with no problems. My mw more or less said a c-section is my only option. My placenta is anteriour, have any of you had a ecv with a placenta in this posistion? Before I had moved I had a mw that said if baby was breach then I can be induced at 38 weeks and go for a natural birth, I have only moved a couple of miles down the road so why is my new mw being a pain.
Sorry for a long post, I hope it makes some sense.
Thanks for your help.

ECV - the statistics vary from hospital to hospital, some have better rates than others...if your first baby was breech, then why can you not give birth vaginally to this baby too? anterior placenta in itself makes a breech presentation more likely.....don;t see why you could not got vaginal delivery again....CS with anterior placenta can have its own issues.........

sorry, can;t be more help..

  1. find out ECV rates and possibility of it at your hospital.,ask for referral to consult. if necc........

  2. you have given birth to a breech baby vaginally once, so why not again? maybe speak to head of midwifery if your midwife is not happy to contemplate this.....

Hi lulumama,
Thanks for the reply. I will try the things you have suggested. Baby is due on the 24th of Jan, and the hospital that would deal with this is so slow, with it being xmas and new year, I may well go into labour before they even see me, which would be nice, as I have had 2 pretty quick labours so it would be too late for them to mess me around.
Thanks again.

hope all goes well ..... if you know you can birth a breech baby...then go for it , may well be that this baby stays breech as anterior placenta makes it more likely......so go with the flow ! xx
