Please! I'm just about to order some online as I want to keep my regular trousers (can't be bothered to spend money on maternity trousers), but I want to know if they are good and if they hold your trousers up properly!
Thanks girls!

i used teh smallest one at the start (but you can buy button expanders in any good department store) after i got beyond that it just felt like i was walking round with my flies open so didn't bother. your shape changes so much you really need maternity trousers.

they are brilliant and for me a real essential maternity buy.

tidyjane · 06/12/2006 20:38

I never wore maternity trousers during my last pregnancy but had a "home made" device which consisted in threading a rubber band through the button hole and attaching it to the button. The problem was that by the end my trousers felt too tight and if I attached a bigger rubber band they fell off me.
And it's the case at the moment. So hopefully that's not gonna happen with belly belt.

The other thing is: what's better, the button or slide and clasp version?

depends very much on whether you want to wear long tops that'll cover the unsightly waistband.

i borrowed one and i wasn't convinced.

I suggest you buy maternity trousers. You'll probably need them at the end anyway so might was well get the wear out of them

tidyjane · 06/12/2006 21:13

I'm planning on wearing long tops anyway but I don't know what to do now because comfort is also very important and I've tried a few maternity jeans that were EXTREMELY comfy. Only I can never find the right length (I'm size leg 34).

I think mat trousers are more comfy. Your regular waistband can cut into the bump so most mat styles are under or over the bump. FWIW I much prefer over with the stretchy jersey panel but these can be hard to find.

H&M are long in the leg.

tidyjane · 06/12/2006 21:20

Yeah that strechy panel is so comfortable and warm for the winter period!
I think I'll do that, I'll try and find some long ones from an internet site or something. Thank you.

here you are . they have more colours in the shops than on the website.

what a waspted opportunity - when I was preg with my dds I used to take an old top and cut it up and make my own band, then wear it underneath otehr reg tops
I could have made millions on this idea!!

vesela · 07/12/2006 09:20

Ok, so I have a pair of maternity jeans that I love, but I find the below-the-bump band on them a bit too tight when I'm sitting down.

Do you think I would have any luck removing it and sewing on one these bump bands in a dark colour instead?

I was wondering how I could alter them, and this sounds like it could be the answer...
