I'm on my final bit of packing my hospital bag and just realised I've not packed any blankets.

Does anyone know which ones I should pack and how many for dec baby?

Swaddle?
Cellular ?
Knitted?
Shawl ?

It's all just confusing !!

Please help

I didn't pack any for the hospital (ours provide cellular blankets for when you're on the ward). I just had a homemade crocheted one for the journey home.

TBH, the wards here are hotter than hell itself and the blankets weren't actually needed. That's all year round. We were all dehydrated, desiccated husks. The senior midwife was very angry at one point as all the babies were bloody hot and the hospital mains doodah place wouldn't turn off the radiators and health and safety meant they couldn't open the windows. They wheeled out fans for every bed. It was well over 30 degrees at one point. Outside it was around 10 degrees.

Cellular if you're going to bring one I'd say.

There will be a blanket in the crib provided for you. We left one in the car for the way home.

I had a big 120cm square soft muslin. Used it loads :)

The hospital provided cellular blankets for the cribs on the ward, and hospitals tend to be hot anyway.

We brought a cellular blanket to use for the journey home.

Our hospital provided them we might have come home with a cellular blanket by accident too

X1 large muslin - can Swaddle them up
X1 shawl - to use going home and on bed with you if you like

My hospital was never boiling either time, just average. I had cashmere bed socks on.

DD is a May baby. I didn't take any blankets into hospital, they were provided for the cribs along with sheets. I wrapped her in a huge muslin for the journey home.

It's so warm in hospital so I'd maybe just take one blanket for the walk out to the car when you're discharged. The hospital will provide them whilst you're in hospital.
