38 weeks - cramping

Hi, I'm 38 weeks and have been having irregular cramping/period like pains lasting about 20-30 seconds for the last few nights. They come anything between 5-30 minutes apart and are uncomfortable but not painful. With my previous birth I had pretty much nothing until my waters went at 40 weeks so this is all new - do you think I'm stuck with overnight cramps from now until birth? Or might they stop again? Anyone have experience of this? It's not awful but I'd rather be getting some decent sleep while I can!!

I bet the first night they don't bother you and you get a good nights sleep, has you going into labour the next morning!

I don't have anything more helpful.to add though sorry.

I got this towards the end of my last pregnancy.

They were bad-ish for a few nights but the night before DS was born they were bad enough that I kept waking up with the pain and then the next day I want into labour.

It could just be your body gearing up.

You quite often get cramping and sore braxton hicks when dehydrated which you might find happens more in the evening and overnight. Make sure you're drinking enough in case it's that making you uncomfortable.

Cuppa can you imagine? One night of sleep before the new baby arrives? What a tease!

Maisie i'm definitely up and down with them, they were worse 2 nights ago and much more bearable last night - hopefully I'll get some indication before they get serious! Was hoping for a couple more weeks before he comes.

Show thanks for the advice - I had read about BH being worse when dehydrated but not the cramps. I've been pretty good on the water but will definitely keep an eye on it!
