i can see its been asked tons before but in my complete naiviety on things gyneological... .. should i have something in the entrance to my vagina? sounds mad, as this thing has prob been there forever, but now.. its certainly sore and when i wee, it sort of goes up, to the side, not down in a straight line. i've looked up subjects like it .. and prolapse kept coming up. but i've never had kids. a few pounds overweight but not markedly so i like to think...

its an embarrassing question as to what i should like down there really. the whole area is quite red, dry, sore.. stings to touch this 'swollen thing'.

there are a few pictures online, obv. not many as the pervs would have a field day.. but

what is this thing? does everyone have one? put it this way, if i wanted to get fruity with dh i think he'd have a job getting past it.. !!! sorry, tmi

I'd see the doctor about that.

I have a posterior uterine prolapse, caused by the birth of my DD. It was very difficult to initially diagnose as when I lay down as you normally would when being examined it 'went back in' LOL!
It was finally diagnosed by a gynaecologist, in a most un-glamorous way.....I had to stand on a step and bear down whilst she looked up from underneath me- NICE!!
Your initial description doesn't sound like my experience, my prolapse before it was supported with a ring pessary, felt like a cherry or something similar close to the entrance to my fanjo.

Good luck with the diagnosis. HTH

tks suwoo and eveyrone else; this does seem to go back in - it's so sore

couldnt get through to gp earlier, then they were full for morning; nothing for later until 2pm. just been told that there are no female gp's until tomorow a.m so have to ring at 830 and try to get an appt then! madness!

does anyone know if you can go to a minor injury / nhs walk in centre (staffed by nurses) to get this looked at??

I would have thought so especially if it is causing pain.

hoxtonchick · 05/12/2006 16:54

it could be a bartholin cyst. i had one before i had the children. it was a very painful swelling, near the entrance to the vagina. needs checking out by your gp as you will definitely need antibiotics & i actually had to have an operation.

hoxtonchick · 05/12/2006 16:55

oh, i ended up in a&e by the way, & they didn't throw me out in horror .

paulaplumpbottom · 05/12/2006 16:57

I think the emergency room sounds like a good idea.

hi; went to walk in centre .. the nurse was lovely. .. i just have a bad case of thrush!!!! feel like a real plank.am v swollen & red down there.things are 'bigger' than usual and sore.. but its thrush. bit of a urine infection possibly, as she took a sample and there's a bit of blood. but nothing that drinking lots of water & some canesten wont' cure.

sorry for groaning on like a muppett.. and thanks for everyone's help - i was worried youd think i was a troll by being so vague yet 'personal'
