Foam is usually cheapest but not the best. Look on kiddicare website at reviews. I ended up getting mid-price range one for cot. Was fine.

Ikea? Cheap foam is fine as babies are very light and you wont be using it for years and years like an adult mattress. As you cant reuse, after use it seems a waste to landfill an expensive mattress.

I don't mind spending a certain amount but all the ones people are recommending are around £180+ - is this normal? What are other people buying?

We spent about £100 on a sprung one for DD's cotbed. In the end she'll have used it from 6m to 5yrs so we felt it was worth spending a bit more. I think it was from mothercare. Ds has one from kiddicare which was about £80.

I got mine from Asda, about £50 or so

Thanks guys, £80-£100 sounds ok

We got a pocket sprung from Argos a few weeks ago reduced from £100 to £50. I went for pocket sprung as my own mattress is.

I find babymattressesonline very reasonable. I've had replacement Stokke mattresses made (oval) and the price didn't make me pass out. You can usually find a discount code via Google too.
