change in movements

Nearly 39 weeks and baby has changed movement - movement feels very strong and exaggerated, whole belly moving up and can see it moving much more, really strong like it might break out! Movement feels slow but very exaggerated and like its struggling to move in me as its so big - is this normal? Very uncomfortable!

Any change in movements should be checked ring your local assessment unit to get checked x

I rang but they said to call midwife in morning if still happening so thought i would ask on here to see if anyone had experience of it - in case everyone is like 'oh yeah happened to me around the same time' etc feels like I'm being stretched from the inside!

I know but what was normal in one person's pregnancy might not be in yours. I would call back if your worried and just tell them you want to be seen. If not you could wait to morning to call midwife x

Sure I get that but just putting it out there to help me sleep. If even one person has experienced the same I will feel a bit better. I will call tomorrow as she said if I still feel it but mumsnet has so many people on it that it can help normalise stuff that is very scary first time round

I agree absolutely that you just need reassured that it's normal I think I've seen posts from before about increased movement at your stage but I was just saying that you might be better getting checked out for peace of mind as you said it wasn't normal for you. I've just spent 6 days in hospital as I can't feel my baby move anymore and I now have to go in for monitoring every 2 days, they told me any change had to be checked whether it be no movement or excessive movement but as I can't feel her anymore I can't go by that now. X

Even if 10 posters commented this happened to them it still doesn't make it ok for your to be experiencing it.

I'm with the other poster, any change of movement needs to be checked out sooner rather than later...

For what it's worth, this did happen to me and dd was born by emcs a few hours later.

Good luck

I just don't know what else I can do - I know you're right but they told me not to worry and to call tomorrow if it's the same. there isn't much more I can do than that :-( I will try to sleep and call back tomorrow, thank you anyway

If you don't want to call them back wait until tomorrow. You know your baby's routine best and if your worried u need reassured.

I hope you get seen to either tonight or tomorrow good luck

Ladypug · 14/10/2015 00:22

Thank you x

Just turn up at the hospital. I did many a times.

There was no way I was going to wait!

I hope you manage to get some reassurance this morning

This has happened to a few people I know, they all turned out fine. Doctors gave different reasons from baby just doesn't feel like moving as much to baby has less room to move now. But, I would still say pop into the hospital if you're worried don't just sit there letting yourself worry and stress all night. Every baby is different just like every mother is different.

Thanks guys, you can't turn up to my local maternity hospital at night, it's locked and you have to book in then turn up on intercom but have phoned midwife this morning and left voicemail so awaiting call back
