Hi folks I'm 7+2 and extatic after ttc for nearly 3 years and an early MC in may at 5+4.

I've been for my first midwife appointment which I felt lacked warmth it was just going through the motions of generic questions no 'how do you feel personally'. I felt it was very matter of fact see you at 15 weeks thanks goodbye. I understand they have to get through all of the standard bumf I just feel something was missing.

She also took a work call arranging an appointment mid consultation which I didn't like.

Anyone else felt like this? I know hormonally I am over sensitive but my GP was over the moon her words were 'I'm so pleased for you I could cry' as the last time I saw her was a few weeks after the MC.

Hopefully my next midwife appointment will be a bit friendlier.

My midwife took a personal call during my booking in! There is a lack of warmth generally from professionals, I guess it's just their job and they see it day in day out, where as to us it's really special. Some are definitely better than others!

Hi, I think at the first appt there is so much to fill in and all the questions they have to ask it can feel the way you describe, I felt underwhelmed by the visit. But I found when I next saw midwife it was completely different and there was a lot of warmth and discussion and empathy etc.

Better luck next time I hope. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt see how things are at the 15 week appointment. Thanks for taking the time to respond ladies x
