I suspect I'm going to need a trip to the GP with this one but wanted to see if anyone else has had anything similar and what the outcome was.

I'm 5 months pregnant and have had numerous niggly issues through the pregnancy so far, as I did with my DS' pregnancy (now age nearly 3).

By way of background they are:

  • meralgia parasthetica, so I can only stand or walk for 5 minutes before being in a lot of pain in my left leg
  • suspected pelvic girdle pain on that side too - physio for those 2 things booked in a couple of weeks' time
  • low iron stores + iron tablets = constipation + anal fissure, so now off the iron and on lactulose
  • protein in my urine and slight urge incontinence at last MW appointment - UTI ruled out but nothing concluded on

Now the latest thing. I've felt heaviness/bulging down below when going to the toilet (number 1 and 2s) for a couple of weeks. Had a look today - doesn't look out of the ordinary. Felt around - feels like a bulge between vagina and anus. My guess is some sort of prolapse but experience of others/thoughts welcomed.

It does sound like it could be a prolapse - does it get worse if you're on your feet a lot, or by the end of the day? I have had one become symptomatic in pregnancy too (from around 25 weeks). Saw a women's health physio privately once and have been doing pelvic floor exercises 4 times a day, which has helped somewhat. I also try to sit down regularly during the day, so plan activities with DD (also nearly 3) around that, like craft things late afternoon, bit of TV late morning. Also keep managing the constipation as best you can.

Thanks Orange. Very helpful.

My job is desk based 4 times a week and because of the meralgia and pelvic girdle pain I've been very much limiting walking and standing for the last few weeks. However went out for a meal and concert with friends yesterday with quite a bit of walking involved which may explain why I can feel it more today.

The physio I am going to be seeing for the meralgia and pelvic girdle pain is a women's health physio so hopefully if I see my GP next week, they may be able to add this to the list of woes they can try and help me for!

Check the NHS or POGP websites for stuff about pelvic floor exercises. There's also an NHS app called Squeezy which you can use to set reminders to do them. Hope it starts to feel better soon. I have had generally more niggles in this pregnancy too - now 32 weeks and this will definitely be my last!
