Hi everyone,
I'm now 14 weeks and really happy and excited - can't actually believe it still, but getting more realistic every day!!
I'm off on holidays soon to sunny Cyprus and as I'm beginning to get a small bump I'm having to think about swimwear. I want to go swimming throughout my pregnancy (whether I do or not is another matter - but that's the plan)!! Does anyone have any advice about finding decent swimwear? Where is good to buy from? How do i find a good fit?
Many thanks.

I have no idea but have just ordered a swimsuit online from asda as go away next week. I'm in the "wont wear it for long so not spending a lot camp". I get it tomorrow will let you know what I think.

I got a great value maternity swimsuit from Sports Direct. Bikinis are a good option as they wont restrict your growing tummy.
Have a lovely holiday.

I bought a maternity tankini when I was pregnant and used it all the way through my pregnancy.

acquiescence · 26/09/2015 15:59

I would recommend a tankini, that way it can come a bit lower at this stage and then when you get bigger there is room. I have a lovely blooming marvellous one that I have been wearing for 5 months and the fit has remained good even though I'm huge now. I had a one piece to start with but it was too big in the early stages. I got mine second hand from a local selling group, there are lots on eBay.

Depends on what type of swimwear you normally wear. I had a regular bikini without any wire in bra and managed to wear that fine whilst pregnant, just loosened straps on bra part compared to usual, and briefs fitted fine. I just had a smallish bump though and didn't really get bigger anywhere else

holdmybeer · 26/09/2015 16:03

I bought mine from asda earlier in the summer. I'm now 29 weeks and have worn it loads and it's still in great condition.
Last pregnancy I had a tankini from mothercare, it was expensive in comparison to my asda one, never really fit properly and went out of shape after a few wears. I constantly felt I was pulling the top down over my bump and never really felt comfortable in it but that's personal preference and I am very self conscious!

Lunastarfish · 26/09/2015 16:06

Asda and mothercare had some nice swimwear. Ihowever, I could still fit into my normal bikini and swimsuit until 32 weeks.

Lunastarfish · 26/09/2015 16:07

Posted too soon! I wear halter neck bikini tops so there was manoeuvrability in that for my growing breasts

RowenaJB · 26/09/2015 16:35

Thanks so much everyone. Appreciate the advice. I normally wear tankinis or swimsuits so will have a browse on Asda, Mothercare and Ebay. :)

I'm 22 weeks and off to Florida on Tuesday!

I've bought a tankini from JoJo Maman and it's fab

RowenaJB · 27/09/2015 09:00

Thanks Brummiegirl. Just looked at their website and love the navy striped tankini. That's definitely on the possibility list! :)

I wasn't impressed with most of the swimwear I looked at back in August. I ended up spending £35 on a Zoggs costume - they are a specialist swimwear company.

I loved the fit of it and I felt great, which gave me the confidence to wear it on the beach on hol at 29 weeks and in the pool at home. As it was a sporty one I knew I wouldn't be likely to pop out anywhere while swimming. I also think it will be very useful once baby is here as it will hide my flabby tum for the post-baby swims.

Granted it's expensive but I felt it was worth it for feeling good in something (a rarity when trying on maternity gear for me).

CoffeeAndOranges · 27/09/2015 09:16

Here's the link to the Zoggs site - I bought the Hayman one.

Maybe they are more local swimming pool than beach holiday in Cyprus but I just really liked how I felt in mine.

Not been swimming in a few weeks now due to time/being ill, but I must get back into it, it was the only thing that made me feel 'nornal' again!

chopsface · 27/09/2015 09:38

I bought a tankini from mothercare for £25 ish. I had to go a size up as the boob bit was TINY in my regular size. But then the bottoms were too saggy. So now I'm wearing the top with my old bikini bottoms. It works but of course they don't match! I'm not selling mothercare swimwear to you am I?! Lol. Hope you find something!

WiIdfire · 27/09/2015 09:45

My swimming costume fit me just fine up to 40+6 so I didnt need to buy a new one. Have you tried ones you already own?

MrsPCR · 27/09/2015 13:36

I've got a Jojo Maman tankini and I love it. It just feels and looks normal when I wear it. I don't think you can tell it's maternity. I'm only 14 weeks so got a bump developing but feel self conscious in normal bikini but don't think I look silly in this maternity one. It's a bit long at the moment so just fold the top under.

I also plan to wear it in the birthing pool.

poocatcherchampion · 27/09/2015 13:41

Maternity tankini from eBay is the answer

HazleNutt · 27/09/2015 14:50

I just wore a bikini - pregnancy is the time of your life when you don't have to worry about wobbly belly or looking bloated after a meal, so might as well take full advantage of this fact.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 27/09/2015 17:53

Those zoggs ones look like they are worth the money. The cheap one I bought from Tesco is crap.

CoffeeAndOranges · 27/09/2015 20:00

I thought so punani - it just seemed really well made. I guess it depends how much swimming you're planning on doing (I was hoping to do lots) and how confident you feel anyway - I have gained lots of weight and when I tried on other suits (Tesco tankini I'm looking at you) I just didn't feel supported or flattered. If I wasn't going to feel supported or flattered I wasn't going to be getting into my cossie in a hurry.

But if you're not planning on doing lots of swimming then it might be a bit pricey.

TriJo · 28/09/2015 12:01

I'm 15 weeks and swimming for fitness 3+ times a week. I'm currently wearing a Speedo one-piece that's up one size from my usual. I really hate the U shaped back that most maternity swimwear seems to have, it means much less boob support at a time when you need more.
