anyone else struggling with this?

I was expecting to feel tired in the third trimester but this just feels way too early!

The thought of another 10 weeks at work puts me in the verge of tears, really not sure I can manage that.

It's awful isn't it? I'm 26 weeks today and on my knees. I feel like such a wimp mentioning it as well as my friend is due next Tuesday and still making it to the gym! Have you considered going on ML early?

spnfan · 23/09/2015 12:23

I'm so happy i'm not alone in this! Thank you :)

I've been starting to feel pretty crappy about myself recently due to tiredness. DH has been doing everything round the house and all I can do is sit and watch!

I am seriously starting to consider early ML. I just don't want to wish i'd pushed myself a bit harder this end so I'll have more time with DD once she's here!

Are you thinking about early ML?

get your bloods checked! it may be as simple as low iron levels which is very common in pregnancy but will make you feel so drained. they usually check them at you midwife appointment around this time (i had mine today at 28+2). x

spnfan · 23/09/2015 12:31

Thanks, notaprincess. Got my next mw appt in 2 weeks. I did try and get an appointment to get my bloods checked a few weeks ago but two different nurses couldn't find a vein (!) so couldn't test and then said 'Your levels were normal at 12 weeks so it's unlikely they've dropped enough to make you feel unwell' and that was that!

I'm a sahm and ds has just started pre school so don't have to worry about ml luckily. Using my precious 3 hours ds is at pre school to crawl back to bed atm!

It might be worth taking some iron supplements anyway or upping your intake of red meat. I would but everything makes me sick :(.

fairyfeatures · 23/09/2015 16:29

Snap.. but mostly due to me getting up at ungodly hour of 3am for a wee and then not getting back to sleep until 6am, and having to get up for work at 6.30am.... 32 minutes left in work and MN is all I have the energy for!

BadgerFace · 23/09/2015 16:47

Have you got any holiday you could use? Maybe to take a couple of days to recharge to then get you through the next few weeks, or work four days a week for a few weeks? Or if you have a long commute could you maybe work from home one day a week?

I am 24 weeks and it is tiring, although I made myself feel better today for working out when I could leave work by using up my holiday just before mat leave (roll on end of November!).

Whether it's worth starting mat leave early would depend for me on whether I was going back to work or not. If so, I'd want to start it as late as possible.

Definitely get you iron levels checked though as princess says - I am pretty sure your results can change significantly for iron in 12 weeks! Can you get referred to the hospital's blood department if you have difficult veins? It's not really on to just not test you. I empathise as I have veins which hide too so always end up with multiple tries to find one.

MaisieDotes · 23/09/2015 16:49

I'd take some iron anyway tbh. They always tell me my iron levels are fine but if I'm not taking a multivitamin with iron in it and/ or a sachet of Spatone every day I feel really lethargic.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 24/09/2015 11:55

I had this around this time, and it turned out to be a liver problem, so def worth getting your bloods done.

Junosmum · 24/09/2015 15:53

23 weeks here and no amount of sleep seems to be enough! I'm going to query anaemia when I see the midwife next.

Lunastarfish · 24/09/2015 16:13

I was exhausted throughout my pregnancy. Iron levels were very high and gestational diabetes was ruled out. I finished working at 31 weeks due to my fixed term role ending but it was a blessing as I needed afternoon naps.

Lunastarfish · 24/09/2015 16:15

On the plus side I've found the lack of sleep with a Newborn easy to deal with! In general my exhaustion was worse in pregnancy than with a baby so you may have a silver lining Smile

Zamaz · 24/09/2015 16:30

I know the feeling! However I am now 31 weeks and for me the crushing tiredness I had around 25-28 weeks seems to have improved!
I have found that (gentle) exercise really helps; even though I could barely face it, a gentle walk, swim or some yoga did make a huge difference to my energy levels (and stress levels), partly as I slept better. And I like the idea of whoever suggest sprinkling in some days of annual leave if you have them to just chill out. Don't beat yourself up, you are making a human, it takes energy! :)

spnfan · 25/09/2015 17:04

It's really hard growing a human! I ended up having a sick day from work as I had a day of being so dizzy i couldn't move my head. Had a day napping and stuffing my face with carbs and felt better. Grin

I will request a nurse next time I have bloods taken - I did warn them and say it could take a while to find a vein as professionals have struggled in the past - and they kind of gave up right then!

I will talk to my boss to see about WFH another day a week - I have a 90 minute drive to work (and back) every day so it's not ideal and already do a day from home a week.

luna I love your silver lining!
