27 weeks here, and I've developed a dreadful cold, however I'm fearing I'm developing a chest infection as I've done nothing but cough of phloem for the past 2 days. My chest feels extremely tight and my inhalers don't seem to be working, and it's starting to get really painful.

My dad has just got rid of pnuemonia which is making me panic slightly as i wasn't aware he had pneumonia when I was around him (neither was he) but I'm thinking I may have caught some sort of chest infection from him. I'm not saying I've caught pneumonia, I wouldn't normally be paranoid if I wasn't pregnant..

My chest is feeling so heavy and uncomfortable, I was thinking if it's not better by tomorrow to go to a walk in centre (not A&E) as I won't be able to book a doctors appointment til Monday.

I may just benefit from a new inhaler, but as my chest feels worse than yesterday I worry that ill struggle doing things if I don't get something to relieve it as its a struggle enough being pregnant as I'm always breathless.

I just don't want to seem like I'm being dramatic, but if I could get a prescription for anything to relieve my chest tomorrow rather than waiting til Monday I'd be so grateful.
Or should I speak to my midwife first and ask if there's anything I can take? I've tried paracetamol and honey and lemon and steaming my face etc but it's no less uncomfortable.

I'm feeling really sorry for myself at the minute! Sad

Absolutely. Go tomorrow.

TeaAndNoSympathy · 18/09/2015 20:11

Yes you must go tomorrow.

FadedRed · 18/09/2015 20:12

Call your out of hours service and ask for advice. Don't wait until tomorrow if your chest is tight and your inhaler ineffective.

Chillyegg · 18/09/2015 20:13

Yep go

FlossieTreadlight · 18/09/2015 20:14

Yes go tomorrow. A tip, ring 111 as early as possible and hopefully they'll book an appointment at the walk in centre for you. They did that for me a few weeks ago when I had a UTI and meant I didn't have to wait 6 hours!

Frasras11 · 18/09/2015 20:18

Call an out of hours GP. If you have asthma and need inhalers I wouldn't wait. Not trying to be a drama llama but yours and baby's health is paramount.

I had a really bad cold at the beginning of my pregnancy and normally I'd pop some pills and get on with it. But the pregnancy coupled with being limited to paracetamol had me on my knees! Don't think you're wasting someone's time. Call OOH or go to walk in tomorrow.

Thank you all
I was worried I was sounding dramatic and I would be wasting their time, just wouldn't like to risk anything with being pregnant really.

Thank you melon the last thing I want is a huge wait in those places!
