Reduced Movement

Hi Ladies, I'm 28 weeks and I've been in for monitoring twice with this now. Once last week, then again last night. I've now apparently been moved from MW led care to consultant, as well them booking me in for an emergency scan. Apparently this is just procedure as (after asking several times) the trace looked fine and I did get some movements towards the end of the hour they had me hooked up. But if you have 2 episodes, then this is what happens.

They are currently telling me I will have to wait till Monday for the scan, despite the guidelines (thanks Dr Google) stating it should be carried out within 24 hours. It's all rather frustrating since I don't think I can cope with waiting all weekend to find out if my baby is ok. I'm hoping if I badger them a bit this morning they'll be something they can do. I'm a really anxious person so I don't deal well with this type of thing.

Movements now feel more like normal though now which is comforting. But I'm still worried it could be an intermittent issue or something.

Does anyone have any experience of this please? Half me thinks I'm just being a paranoid nutter and that it's probably just babies position. The other half has had the bejesus scared out of me reading count the kicks etc.

I was in at 24 27 and 29 weeks with reduced movements had scans there an then though as our assessment unit has the facilities to provide scans. I think my baby's routine is to have busy days and then days of a slightly more relaxed nature. Ring and say you can't wait til Monday for a scan.

Count The Kicks is horribly phrased in my opinion. It would me much more realistic to describe it as getting to know the general routine of your baby and what is normal for them. This can include quiet times- they do sleep in there! It is only really around 28 weeks that this begins to become clear.
If the trace was fine, most likely everything is fine- especially as you are feeling normal movement now.

I have been in twice with reduced movement, and one of those times i thought my waters had broken (at 29 weeks), i havent been referred to a consultant.

Count the kicks is a charity that i volunteer for, and their info is basically to recognise what is normal for you and act on it when it is not within that normal for you. You shouldnt feel scared to read their info, it can help you feel more confident to ask for help, if you are feeling sensitive, dont read the stoires on there, but otherwise its all helpful

I was in regularly with reduced movements with both dcs. There was never actually sny problem. Both boys born full term completely healthy etc. I don't know why it happened. Always best to get it checked though. Try not to worry. Easier said than done- I'm pg with dc3 and worry about everything!!

Keep track of movement and go back in if you think it's reducing again. That's all you can do on a Saturday evening. Xx
