Had a Maccy's for lunch (have about one a year), and am ordering Chinese for tea. Had a sleepless night and too knackered to cook. Feeling a bit sorry for myself today. Does taking pregnacare make up for feeding the baby fries and MSG?

Yes Grin

I could barely eat anything other than chocolate and vegemite toast from weeks 7-17 but managed pregnacare everyday so l feel no guilt!

Saw something really interesting the other day. A study in Ghana clearly showed that babies conceived in Spring had much higher rates of living into later adulthood than babies from other times of the year. They concluded that the food the mother was taking was genetically modifying/affecting babies in the first 8wks of pregnancy. In Ghana there was the greatest abundance and variety of food at the time of year the statistically longer living babies were conceived. Food for thought. But I think in the developed world overall we are all eating well enough for this not to be an issue. McD's included!

I told a lady in work that I was eating a lot of pot noodles recently because I had discovered they were really tasty. She paused and said 'I suspect that's th msg'.

The shame the shame.

But oh a sticky rib one....

I have take-away pizza once a week, but try to balance it out with Pregnacare and a not-terrible-but-not-excellent amount of fruit and vegetables. Juice and water in abundance. From everyone I've spoken to, the myth that every woman eats and exercises like a guru during pregnancy is ridiculous; everyone I know ate terribly and their children have all turned out happy and healthy.

Don't stress too much about it; keeping yourself happy with junk-food is completely understandable, with everything else you are going through right now :)

Thanks everyone! Just had a very tiresome day I think. Feel a lot better this morning after a decent kip so will be back to my usual (relatively) healthy diet.
It's not always easy this pregnancy lark, is it?! Think I have waves of hormones every couple of weeks that totally ruin me (no sleep, covered in spots, feel angry/sensitive at same time, want to eat muffins for breakfast) but then perk up and feel better so tend to eat much better.
The poor DH hasn't a notion what's going on but turned up with flowers last night so after the crying stopped we had a good chat about how having the odd bad day doesn't make you a terrible mother.
Really enjoyed hearing about the Vegemite/chocolate, pot noodle and pizza scarfing- thanks :-)

I desperately wanted Maccy D's last night. But I held off and had a bowl of oven-cooked potato wedges for tea. That counts as a healthy alternative right? I had homemade apple crumble and custard for afters, surely that's one of my 5 a day?!

CarrotPuff · 18/09/2015 16:40

Did the burger have pickle and lettuce in it Edgar? That's some more of 5 a day for you there Wink

I've actually just texted DP to get McD for tea Grin

I'm waiting for pizza. I had Chinese last night! Asda shop on way tomorrow and have planned easy type meals that other half can cook if I feel too knackered in a bid to stop eating so much shite!
