Bump

Hello all! Probably a silly question but first pregnancy so still learning a lot! I'm 15 weeks pregnant and I feel like my bump is quite big and obvious already! Im a size 8-10. However because of my bad sickness I feel all I have really eaten so far during this pregnancy is carbs and rubbish - i feel self conscious that I've just put on loads of weight rather than it be a bump! However I haven't really put on much weight anywhere else... Do you normally start to show around 15 weeks?!

Hi worried I'm 16 weeks and my (little) bump has more or less appeared in the last week or so, so sounds similar to you. I haven't put on much weight (0.5kg since booking in) and I still fit in my jeans etc so I don't think I'm getting bigger anywhere else (yet!) it's just all going round my middle!

I did exactly the same, I was a 10/12 before I got pregnant and became very flabby/bloated early. I was sure I was going to be huge but it soon filled out with actual baby bump and at 26 weeks ive got a nice bump but don't feel too fat. If all you can stomach is carbs, just eat them.

Hiya

I ate loads of carbs in trimester 1 too as it was all I could stomach. I felt like my tummy was all lumpy and flabby from about 8 weeks! But I realised I didn't actually get a proper bump bump for a while after, more like 22 weeks! It's definitely an obvious difference between bloat and bump, you'll notice when it happens. All the flabby feeling I had has gone now and I have a lovely firm stomach (27 weeks)

Congratulations :) I had similar experience to you; eating excessive carbs is a normal 1st trimester coping mechanism for the sickness and body-changes you're adjusting to. Up until about 18 weeks I just felt fat all of the time. But from that point onwards, baby starts growing more noticeably and you'll start to get a baby belly. Do not feel too self-conscious about your size at the moment.. I promise you that pretty soon your belly will be so in-the-way and uncomfortable that you'll miss the easy days of feeling chubby but not looking pregnant! I am now 25 weeks with SPD and cannot see my belly button from above.. I long for the days when no one could see I was pregnant!

Basically, good luck and try to enjoy this stage while you can :)
