Breastfeeding with a history of recurrent miscarriage

Panicky post here.
I'm still breastfeeding DS2 (9m) and have just found out that I am pregnant.
I've only bled twice for a day or 2 since he was born, and this was several months ago, so no idea how pregnant I am.
My copper coil, which was implanted at 6 weeks is still in situ.
I am currently waiting on a scan for dating, to check the pregnancy location (in addition to the coil, I've had a previous ectopic so high risk, apparently)
My concern is that I have had multiple previous miscarriages. Opinions appear to be divided as to whether continue to breastfeed poses a threat (although stopping is not actually an option, so I'm not sure what I'm asking)
Feeling shaky, and could do with some wise words, advice and reassurance.
TIA

The idea used to be that you were 'diverting' nutrients from the foetus, right? I think that's been debunked now - they are astonishingly successful at getting nutrients out of you regardless of anything else going on. unless you're under extreme nutritional stress (by which I mean genuine famine) it's not going to be a problem.

It's the coil that could be an issue - they will need to assess whether to leave it in or remove it. Both have risks - I hope it works out well for you.

Breastfeeding doesn't cause miscarriages, just like your periods don't turn your milk "sour". They are all myths. Best of luck for you and your sticky bean Flowers
