Mucus plug/bloody show are they the same?

Having tried googling I'm utterly confused Confused I lost what has to be my mucus plug yesterday however I just wondered if this is the same as a bloody show? There was no blood present, just a big glob of jelly-like mucus (apologies if that's tmi!)

Also, does losing it mean things are close or do I need to be prepared to sit tight a while longer?! (I'm currently 39 + 4).

Its one another same thing Op. It can be clear or pink. Not necessarily either. And it resembles snot (like when you blow your nose) in consistency.

At 39 +4 I'd say it's a good sign that things are getting ready to start but it's also not a guarantee that they will. Just remain calm and relaxed and wait it out.

One and the same bloody autocorrect

They are not the same. Bloody show has blood in it and from what I've read is more indicative of things happening soon, as blood is normally from your cervix when it starts to shorten/dilate. My waters broke the same day when I had a bloody show.

Mucus plug means nothing, you can lose it several times and it will "grow" back. But then I'm sure someone will come along and say they went into labour the next day after losing their plug.

I hope things start to happen for oyu soon, good luck Flowers

A bloody show and a a mucus plug aren't the same thing, a bloody show has blood in it which means that the capillaries in the cervix have been disturbed or ruptured which basically means it has started to dilate slightly, labour could be round the corner.

Time to call the midwife, if you think you need some clarity?

Not the same thing, when I had a bloody show with dc1 I went into labour 24 hours later and with dc2 i had a bloody show just before labour started.
With dc2 pregnancy I had mucous plug coming away around 35 weeks and told midwife but she said it grows back. I didn't go into labour for another 6 weeks!
Good luck, everything I read said bloody show means labour should start within a day or so!

This has some rather lovely pictures! TMI warning! www.newkidscenter.com/Losing-Mucus-Plug.html

I'd say photo 1, the snotty stuff is a mucus plug and photo 3 is the bloody show. My mucus plug came away in little bits for a few days and my bloody show was 24 hours before he arrived. Both are gross but the bloody show is the grossest - mine was a bit more snotty than that picture
