Anyone with lots of movement one day and little the next?

I'm 36ish weeks. 2nd baby. Not prone to worrying. However, this baby's movements are making me fret today.

Up to about mid-afternoon yesterday it had been really active for days - lots of squirming and stretching out (to the point of making my bladder and ribs hurt at the same time). Since then, much quieter. I've felt it move today, but movements feel much more gentle and small and no more pressure on bladder or poking in the ribs. In fact, I can feel some very faint movements now (after drinking a cold fizzy drink 10 mins ago to see if I could get it moving). I'm wondering whether maybe it's just moved position and has its back towards my front so I can't feel its movements so much?? That might explain the discomfort yesterday - as it could have been moving into a new position...

Anyway, at one point does one genuinely worry and go in to get checked? The 'countthekicks' website is freaking me out a bit - implies that even the slightest change in movement means baby is about to die. And I really can't remember what movements were like with DC1 (but I don't ever remember being worried about them). Oh, and I had my 3rd trimester scan last week (5 days ago) and all was well.

if you are worried in any way, call your MW and talk to them. it is always better to be safe.

that said, DC1 hardly moved at all throughout and had i known then what i know now i would have been for plenty of unnecessary monitoring as obviously he was fine!!

if in doubt, check it out, especially if you usually have an established pattern of movement. it is very probable that baby has just moved position but there is no point sitting and worrying when it can be checked and you reassured.

Hmm. Ok. I know that's wise advice, I think I just needed someone else to tell me. I'll call them.

Yes, my baby can be like that. Usually he is very active, turning, kicking etc, then there are occasional quiet days which my OH calls days-off Grin but they do make me worry all the same. By quiet I mean few gentle pokes after completely still morning and then still again until evening. A friend of mine says she had 3 full days of complete quietness and all was well (she didn't even bother about it), she has a gorgeous baby now.

However if it makes you really uneasy I'd say go get checked just for your peace of mind.

good! i assume you pay your taxes so you are entitled to care should you feel you need it. I think it is very british to not want to be a bother (assuming you are in the uk here!).

I'm sure all will be well though!

Thanks again for the advice. Called and they told me to go in. They monitored me for about half an hour. All good. Smile
