Not very helpful here but for me I would say both!

I'm much more comfortable in jammies but I ended up with an epidural a catheter and then a section so a nightie was a dignity saver to the catheter was removed the next day

Something dark so you won't notice blood/milk spillage as much.

I reckon either is fine - for actually giving birth you can either have your nighty rolled up or just a pyjama top on. Or they'll give you a gown to wear.

Consider what you'll be most comfortable in on the ward afterwards, as there are loads of other mothers, their visitors, nurses etc around, so you want to be comfy in front of other people (e.g. take a dressing gown if you want).

For breastfeeding just make sure you have a top/nighty that buttons down, or stretchy vest that you can just pull down.

Oh and colour wise definately dark just incase of leaks during visiting time or bring a very light material dressing gown as it is roasting in maternity ward

I'd say both - take a nightie and PJs.

I ended up with EMCS and had a baggy nightie the first day then as soon as catheter was out I wanted proper clothes on. I just wore maternity leggings with my nightie at night, I felt a bit more "covered" and dressed IYSWIM. The rest of the day I wore maternity leggings with a dress which was comfortable.

I've got two nighties - hospital ward was baking last time and had a catheter in for few hours. I took pyjamas too, as I felt more comfortable in them if I had visitors. Cheap black trousers from Primark and cheap vests.

Take breastfeeding nighties and some leggings. Then can just use nighties when actually birthing, or if you need catheter, and can add leggings after if you want to be more covered. Seraphine sell great black breastfeeding dresses for about £20. Nice to wear all the first year if still feeding at night as look nice also

I've just bought 2 nighties from primark, and going to take pair of pj's in hope I'm able to wear them at some stage. I was advised to get nighty that wldnt mind binning once given birth, and believe me these ones can go straight in the bin!! Smile

Matalan do stripey blue or pink night shirts for £5 and they're long enough to cover your bum (but would want some PJ bottoms or a light dressing gown when walking around the ward.
I bought one thinking for a fiver it can be worn to labour in and then throw away but actually really like it so going to pick up a couple for as will be useful for BF at night in the coming months.
