Here goes... It's pretty faint but can everyone see this?!

Can you see a line?

Aww, I wasn't being unfriendly. Sorry. I was trying to be supportive/happy/informative and a bit tongue in cheek about how many tests we've all done because even when we have seen 7 lines in 7 days, what's the harm in another ten couple of tests? I'm clearly inept at expressing tone on here Grin

The cheap amazon tests are actually more sensitive than, for example, Clearblue digital. I was trying to reassure you that these are proper tests. They work in exactly the same way, they're just not a tenner and they don't have the fancy plastic packaging. In fact, you'd find the same tests in any nurse or doctor's arsenal.

You are pregnant and that's a wonderful, wonderful thing. Congratulations. Smile

Oh and in terms of what you do next, if you ask at your local surgery, they'll let you know procedure. Most places nowadays won't give you a GP appointment and ask that you book straight in with the midwife (sometimes you can do it yourself online). Chances are that they won't see you until you're at least 6 weeks, most likely not until between 8 and 12 weeks. They don't even do a pregnancy test, just take your word for it.

Be prepared for your first midwife appointment. It's long. Lots of form filling, measuring and weighing, leaflets and full family history. Make sure you know of any relevant medical issues (diabetes, congenital conditions, thalassemia etc) in your history or in the father's history. They will ask about parents and grandparents. It can take a couple of hours.

In the meantime, take your folic acid, have a browse of the NHS site for foods to avoid and enjoy knowing that in 8 short months, your word will turn upside down. In the best way possible.

Thanks so much for the helpful reply, and sorry if I mistook your tone! Probably a bit over sensitive at the moment.

That's good to know about the GP thing, I was a bit surprised that I wouldn't be getting a 100% positive from the doc! Guess I'll just do another test to be doubly sure in a few days and that will be that.

Do people usually take DH/DP to the midwife appts?

Nah, no need to apologise. It's sometimes hard to read tone on here. Smile

Up to you whether you want to take your dh/dp and whether or not they want to/are able to come. It's pretty useful to have them at the first one so they can confirm their own family medical history. Obviously, if you have any appts which double as scans/tests, you might want them there in particular. Otherwise, people do whatever suits them and so should you! There are no 'rules' and only what feels comfortable for you. If your pregnancy is low risk, you might find that some of the appointments are very short. They will dip your urine (get used to carrying a pot of wee in your bag btw), do your bp, ask how you feel, have a feel of the baby's position/maybe check the heartbeat if you're past 26 weeks ish and then you're off again. It takes around 5 minutes if there are no problems and you have no questions.

Just take dh/p to scans at 12 and 20 weeks personally as not needed at midwife appointments and whilst I am allowed time out of work for them he has to take holiday/make hours up ( he is allowed time off for 2 scans).

I used the first pregnancy strip you shared.

That is as strong as those lines get. You are definitely pregnant.

HUGE congratulations!
