I stumbled across this recipe which alleges to help induce natural labour.. They claim it works within 48 hours of eating it and hundreds of babies have been born after the mothers ate it

I was over 40 weeks and was intrigued so gave it a try and was in labour within 24 hours! (Plus it's v tasty!)

Probably just a massive co-incidence, but curious if anyone else has tried it with any success?

Or are there any overdue ladies willing to give it a try and report back what happens??!

If you don't like aubergines or lots of cheese it's probably not the one for you Wink

It sounds tasty! I'm going to try it! Thanks for the tip (worst-case-scenario: I have a tasty dinner and get to add a new recipe to my repertoire!) Best case - my baby comes without being induced. I imagine it might make the induction easier in any case!!!

Does anyone else find it slightly amusing that Americans call aubergine "eggplant"?

Disclaimer: my dad was half American and I have a lot of lovely family there. Not being anti-American at all here. Just find the difference in language amusing sometimes!

Ooh do let us know if it works for you!

How bizarre, there isn't anything there that you'd think would be a trigger for labour is there? Except perhaps the 1/2 cup of parsley (parsley is known to induce periods if you drink it in a tea). I'm having an elcs so won't be trying this, but i'm intrigued to see if it works for anyone else....

Yarpyarp · 11/09/2015 13:56

Didn't know that about parsley.
I read somewhere that aubergines are full of prolactin which helps cervix soften I think. It is very strange either way!

Eggplant Parmesan alla Scalini??s
Ingredients:
3 medium size eggplants
1 cup of flour
6 eggs, beaten
4 cups fine Italian bread crumbs, seasoned Olive oil for saute??ing
8 cups of marinara sauce*
1/2 cup of grated Romano cheese
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 lbs of Mozzarella cheese shredded 2 cups of Ricotta cheese
After you wash the eggplant, slice them into 1/4 inch thick slices. You may choose to peel the eggplant before you slice it, however you may want to leave the skin on since the skin contains a lot of vitamins.
Place the eggplant slices on a layer of paper towels
and sprinkle with a little salt, then cover with another layer of paper towels and hold it down with something heavy. This will drain the excess moisture. Let them set for about an hour.
Working with one slice of eggplant at a time, dust with flour, then dip in beaten eggs, then coat well with bread crumbs. Saute?? in preheated olive oil on both sides until golden brown.
In baking dish, alternate layers of marinara sauce, egg- plant slices, ricotta, parmesan, and romano cheeses, until you fill the baking dish about an 1/8 inch from the top. Cover with shredded mozzarella cheese and bake for 25 minutes in 375 degree oven. Let set for 10 minutes before serving.

  • Scalini??s Marinara Sauce 2 tablespoons of chopped garlic 3 tablespoons of olive oil 8 cups chopped tomatoes (fresh or canned) 1 cup onions chopped 1/2 cup of fresh chopped parsley 1 teaspoon of oregano 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper 1/8 cup of fresh chopped sweet basil Pinch of thyme Pinch of rosemary One teaspoon salt One teaspoon black pepper

Lightly saute?? the onions in olive oil in large pot for a few minutes.
Add garlic and saute?? another minute.
Add tomatoes and bring sauce to boil, then turn heat to low.
Add remaining ingredients, stir, cover and let simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.

I almost tried this when overdue with DS but didn't get round to buying the ingredients, plus told myself it was nonsense. Does sound delish though!!!

spanisharmada · 11/09/2015 18:25

coveredinsnot · 11/09/2015 18:44
