Twins - baby monitors

Help... I'm pregnant with twins and planning for their nursery etc. unsure what to do about baby monitors?? Can anyone give me their advice. I plan on keeping them in separate cots due to SIDS and overheating. Would you recommend 2 baby monitors?? Thanks

Depends on the type. But I'd say no. There's the possibility of the two interferring with each other and being useless.

No, course not. One monitor will pick up all noise in the same room. And as a pp said, they could interfere with each other.

Great thanks. I didn't think of the interfering. We bought 2 on sale from Mothercare last week but wasn't sure on taken one back. I will now. Thanks. Can you recommend any alternative to cot mobiles? They are lovely but we can't play them both at the same time thanks

Hi Izzie, I got mobiles where you could mute the sound, then we could play both mobiles but only have one set of music.

Re the Two monitors - it might be useful to have one set up downstairs - so if they are sleeping downstairs you can nip upstairs to make beds or what ever. (Unless of course you are all on one level!)

Sorry to tell you but we found that one baby waking up invariably meant both babies woke up (and we had them in separate cots too!)'

Great I didn't think of that. My brain is not working these days. We are in the process of moving so it will be 1 floor until we move so I could always get another one after we move. Thanks

Hi Izzie, not all of them. it was a while ago now (my DC are 7yo) but I think ours were fisher price. Just check for mute function.

One other thing while you are thinking about it - look for extra large playmats so you can fit both babies on at once.

We also found our bouncy chairs incredibly useful. I could bouncy one baby with my foot while feeding the other.

As an alternative to mobiles how about a musical ceiling projector type thing that they can both watch? We had the Tomy starlight dreamshow one and DD loved it and it was just over a tenner so not too expensive. You can attach them to a cot but we used to just sit it in the flood. :)
