Hi all,

This is going to sound really silly but im 35+3 and im having really sharp pains in my bum. Feels like a contraction only in the bum.
My little one is wriggling around, but every time he does the pain gets worse.
Im due to see the doctor tomorrow 7/09/15 but trying to get some advice in the mean time. It hurts like hell and with it ive got pains in my back and period like pains. Ive taken paracetamol but doesnt seem to have taken the pain away.

Any information would be lovely.
Thankyou xx

Is it your first? I had pains there just before I needed to push!!! But I presume that's not the case!

Oh gosh yes...bum pains are labour pains for me. Quite late stage too.

Are they coming regularly every so many minutes, peaking and then dying down?

haylosler91 · 06/09/2015 21:49

No hes my second but i dont remember any of this with the first.

It sounds really strange but it feels like a contraction in my bum, but hes wriggling a lot

My DC all wriggled until the end too, so it's good he's wriggling.

If the pain is getting unbearable I'd phone the midwife and ask to go in tbh. get your partner to massage your bum vigorously every time the pain comes around again.

You need to be checked over. It is common to get referred pain a lot like a very sharp constipation and the actual origin of the discomfort is the uterus. Whether it is the baby on a nerve or you are in labour, we can't tell. If it's coming in waves, it could be labour. The baby still moving doesn't mean it isn't labour iyswim.

Have you a number on your notes you can call for advice? Delivery suite?

PurpleWithaMysteryBun · 06/09/2015 21:58

Has baby been posterior? Often feel contractions in your back then. I would call your MW :)

haylosler91 · 06/09/2015 22:01

Thankyou all for your advice, its not constant, it comes and goes.
Really hurts to sit, stand and even cough.
i went to make a coffee and could hardly get down the stairs

Definitely call the midwife and get checked over Or at least discuss it with them.

haylosler91 · 06/09/2015 22:22

Well you're in pain and you're uncomfortable, so it's not "nothing" is it? You can go into labour any time before 40weeks. I

Call the advice line in your notes. A phone call isn't going to hurt and it's far better to be safe than sorry.

As pp said, it's hurting and you're concerned so better to get some advice. They might even give you some practical tips to stop the pain. Good luck. Smile

coveredinsnot · 06/09/2015 22:45

When I was in labour all the pain was in my bum as baby was posterior. Call someone asap! Just to be safe.
