IS IT POSSIBLE FOR BABY TO HAVE TURNED INTO BREECH POSITION AT 37.5 WEEKS?

At my midwife appointment last week I was told that my baby is head down and 2/5 engaged. All fine, I thought to myself... Well on Sunday night the baby had a 'mad' 2 hours of literally non-stop moving, wriggling, writhing and kicking - I was actually getting a bit worried! He/she eventually calmed down and I thought nothing more of it.

Yesterday I couldn't feel the baby kicking me in the usual place (just under my ribs on right-hand side) and when he/she had hiccups, rather than feeling them really low down like before, I could feel them most strongly where I used to feel the kicking i.e. under my ribs. Has my baby turned 'the wrong way'? Is it possible at this late stage?! I am worried!! Anyone had a similar experience?

I guess I am going to have to try to get an appointment with my very elusive midwife... (sigh)

I don't think it's impossible for them to turm at that stage. Unusuall perhaps but not impossible. They can turn from breech to ceph at that stage so I'm sure they could probably go the other way to.

Would probably be the best idea to get an appointment so that your mind is put at rest. Especially as you are classed as "term" now so it could happen anytime. Good luck

I suppose though on the bright side if baby has turned then it could poss turn back again.

I don't think your baby has turned around completely. I'm just a few days ahead of you, and my DB is 3/5ths engaged. Sometimes it feels like his hiccups are at the top!

Could it be more that your baby has gone posterior? i.e. Babys spine to your spine? My first two were like this, no big deal, ignore all the horror stories you hear! DB will probably turn in labour, they are just more comfy like that for now.

hi

the head is much heavier than the bum, so when the baby is head down, it is much harder to turn so the head is back at the top...not impossible..but difficult! especially if partially engaged...

as mumatuks has suggested, the baby might be more posterior than previously.

see if you can track the midwife down..for the reassurance!

Yes. How do I know? DS turned a couple of times (but he had never engaged). He finished up breech, I'm afraid, but then again he had never spent long head down.
