... specially round my knees.. is this normal? should i get support tights?

i'm 23 weeks pg.

have got what is probably whooping cough, really bad chest, been v ill with it.. the doctors have been a bit concerned about my aches and pains as they worry about blood clots but i haven't had any signs like pain on breathing in etc..

but now the aching legs make me think i've got blood clots and paranoia sets in...

GP has advised chest x ray in 10 days if no improvement.. i'm also on erythromycin 500mg 4x daily to try and get rid of the terrible chest cough.. and i've had blood tests done today

any advice welcome!

Hey Rainbow Girl, sorry to hear you are not feeling weel for you.

I would definitely invest in some flight socks, not attractive I know, but I found them invaluable in my pregnancy, as my legs and feet ballooned!
Fingers crossed, make sure you keep your legs raised whenever possible, and take it easy chick,

Brownie

Got mine from Morrisons, they are pretty much all the same - mine were flight socks though, as opposed to support tights.
The ones I got come in black or white, and have been used since for holiday flights!
If in doubt, would suggest speaking to a pharmacist either at Tescos, Boots or somewhere similar.

Good luck, let me know how you get on chicken,

B

Rainbowgirl - if you have pain in both legs, it's unlikely to be clots, as it would be pretty rare to get that in both legs simultaneously. I had a clot in my leg in my last pregnancy, and the pain was very bad - basically almost impossible to walk. So although clots are obviously something to look out for, I think you'd know if you had one. Hope that's reassuring. I'd try some support tights if I were you - might be better than flight socks if the problem is with your knees. If you are worried about blood flow, rather than just wanting your legs to be more comfortable, check out compression hoisery from Sigvaris here or get your GP to prescribe you some compression stockings.
