18 weeks, dc2 but no movement?

I'm starting to worry a little!
I think I felt ds at about 16 weeks. I know the placenta with this one wraps around and is half anterior / half posterior. We had a gender scan this week and she was moving around but I couldn't feel it then so I assume I just can't feel her yet for some reason. I keep using the Doppler every couple of days. Some evenings when I've been lying down I think I've felt the odd movement but then I get nothing for a couple of days. I'm slim and my bump is pretty nonexistent.
I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow so I will mention it. Can it be normal even with a second child at 18 weeks to still fee nothing?

Completely normal. I wouldn't worry too much at this stage as baby is still quite small. Your placenta may well be cushioning movement too. I'm pregnant again and have an anterior placenta this time and I felt little tickles earlier on (like 12/13 weeks ) when baby was teeny and still low down but as she grew I had a lull in movements which I hadn't done with my first pregnancy as she was obviously kicking into the placenta and I felt nothing for about a month or so until about 22 weeks.

I can hear her moving on the Doppler - I think anyway. Like glug glug noises.

I felt DD1 around 14 weeks, with this one I didn't feel movement until 18 weeks, and even then I'd have days where I didn't feel her at all. I've got an anterior high placenta this time round and she generally seems to be a less active baby than her big sister! I'm now 26+1, and while I do feel her kicking every day, some days she is far quieter than others, I think that's normal for her.

It's normal to not really feel anything till about 24 weeks- only after then if you don't feel anything you should be concerned.

I'm 20 weeks with DC3 and only feeling irregular movements for the last day or two - felt my last child at the dating scan! Every pregnancy is different .

For what it's worth you shouldn't be using a home Doppler unless you have some kind of training in midwifery or obstetrics . You could be hearing something that is not the fetal heart .
If you are concerned you should contact your midwife - too many women rely on home dopplers and I have seen this go wrong many times .

I'm 19+4 and only just started to feel the baby bumping around a bit last week. If you've had a recent scan that went well I really wouldn't worry, hope the midwife will set your mind at ease today though!

That is reassuring. It's just taken us so long to get here it feels incredibly fragile!

I know what you mean re the Doppler baby but I'm certain it's baby as my Doppler shows the heart rate. Mine is always mid 70s and baby's is always between 140 and 150bpm. I can hear the placenta too which is a whooshing sound.
I don't think at that high a speed it could be anything other than baby - could it??

There's always the worry though that you rely too much on the Doppler and so would go to that instead of getting medical help .

If you had an infection your heart rate could be fast for example .

I have seen cases where babies have died but the mums were convinced everything was ok because they had listened in on the home Doppler .

If you are concerned your first port of call should be your midwife or labour ward .
