Racing heart, dizziness & nausea at 36 weeks

As above, I've been feeling quite unwell this evening and wondered if anyone has had similar symptoms? It's my 2nd pregnancy and I'm 36 weeks. I'm also currently lying by my daughter's bed while she falls asleep and have some niggling pains in my bump! Ive had the breathless/racing heart thing a couple of times over the last week or so, but hadn't felt so sick/dizzy before. Just looking for reassurance that it's par for the course...!

if your heart rate is fast and you feel dizzy/ have symptoms you need to get checked out. Out of hours GP or even ED at this time of night if you still feel unwell right now

I'm 40 weeks and I've had all of those symptoms in the last few weeks, but I'd make an emergency appointment at your GP tomorrow so they can check you over just to be safe. It's so frustrating because during pregnancy all the symptoms of worrying conditions seem to be the same as the normal symptoms of pregnancy!

I've got a racing heart, dizziness and breathlessness. I'm now waiting for a 24 h cardiac trace on my heart.

Could be nothing but talk to midwife

It's scary though and exhausting. I'm 17 wks

I've had this, I've put it down to my BP crashing. Every other midwife appointment, it's low. MW says its not 'problem' low, and just to keep out of situations where I may faint and hurt myself. Of course, getting it checked is the important thing, so either GP or next MW appointment, whatever is quickest. In the meantime, I find living on my right side when it happens helps a lot, along with some slow, controlled breathing.

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 28/08/2015 00:45

That's lying not living on the right side.

Thanks everyone. It passed after 30 mins or so and I then had a cup of tea and some cereal which also seemed to help. Midwife appointment today so I'll ask her thoughts. Hope you all feel better.

I get this a lot. Am currently 38 weeks. I tend to have low ish blood pressure. There is a lot of extra stress on your cardiovascular system when you're pregnant, especially towards the end. Lying down can actually make your heart race more. Also it's normal for your resting pulse to increase by about 20bpm during pregnancy. So when you say you have a racing heart exactly how fast is your pulse? Also the breathlessness and dizziness can be signs of anaemia.
