22 Week Movement

Hi Ladies,

I've been feeling movement for a few weeks now and the last few days the baby has been very active - since last night and during today though I feel the odd prod but nothing as bouncy as the last few days - is this normal?

I am now also worrying that I might have cursed myself by starting to buy some baby items (have bought some clothes over the last few days - holding off any big items until probably November - am due 25/12)

I know I am probably being a bit OTT but any advice/assurance would be great!

Hi OP, I am 23 weeks and just had the se thing. For me I think the baby moved from transverse to up/down. The movements are more in the middle and now not as obvious iyswim? It took me a while to recognise/get used to the new movements. Could be the same for you?

Possibly! I have had the odd bump today but on Friday and Monday had a lot of activity (DH even managed to feel it!) - I am probably just worrying for nothing but just wondered how other ladies got on!

My midwife always advised me to have a cold drink or ice lolly if I thought the babies movements had slowed or I hadnt felt anything for a while. The cold and sugar rush should get the baby moving about more.
If you are still concerned though I would give your midwife a quick call.

I'm 22weeks baby due New Year's Eve. Been feeling movements quite regularly from 17weeks but the last 2weeks they've seemed to have slowed down and are in less of a pattern. I find that having a cold fizzy drink helps :) I know if can be very worrying I had very little movement and no patterns with my dd if you are worried contact your midwife or labour ward x

I panicked about this at 22 weeks. And 24. Both times the mw said the baby is still v small and can hide.

I have a stubborn little beast who kicks when she feels like it so I still get panicky days and disco days, but honestly, the difference at 28 weeks onwards is huge as they are so much bigger. There's a reason that's the guideline for monitoring kicks.

Trust your instinct. If you're feeling nothing, go and get checked to be safe; I did even though I felt a bit paranoid. But if you're just feeling different movements, ask your mw - chances are baby has just moved!

Try not to worry too much about it, I think this sounds normal. I'm 22 weeks as well, and movements can be still very irregular at this stage. I tend to notice them more when I sit still at my desk in the office, but not so much when I'm out and about and active.
