hi am having problems with what to wear - my bump is low and all out front, so anything that is under bump really digs in and now anything over bump is starting to dig in - what can I wear?!
i also have hideous and painful varicose veins so have to keep legs covered and / or wear compression stockings.
so am wondering if there are any recommendations for really good leggings, or maxi type dresses or trousers that are not tight around the bump (and don't fall down!) or do i have to just lump it and be uncomfortable for the next 6 or so weeks...?
don't really want to invest much this close to the end of the pregnancy (no plans for more DC) but getting desperate!
thanks!
xx

I bought some maxi dresses as have similar problems!

I did buy one maternity maxi dress from New Look, but it went straight back as even my DH said it looked awful! Wink

In the end I bought normal maxi dresses in a size up, man made of Jersey fabric, so plenty of stretch.

Ended up with some from this collection (cheapest, sale dresses) www.mandmdirect.com/01/womens?fh_location=catalog01/en_GB/website%3E{mandmgbp}/gender%3E{womens}/category%3E{dressesandskirts}/subcategory%3E{dresses}/brand%3E{only}&fh_view_size=96

HTH

I'm now 36 weeks and haven't stretched the dresses so far, so have a reasonable expectation of wearing them next year when I get my body back!

I lived in Maxi dresses one size up and next maternity leggings. The last six weeks was uncomfortable, I was so swollen and like you the baby was low down.

I have a maximum dress from tk maxx with a drawstring waist which is perfect

Also my Thai fisherman's trousers are great at the moment as I can tie them exactly as tightly as needed (maybe not for the office though Wink)

Maxi dresses. Get to primark woman!

I got a couple in Dorothy Perkins too which were a bit smarter and I Wore them for a few parties. They had slits up the sides so kept my legs cool but still hid the fact they hadn't been shaved for a while.

I have had to buy maternity office wear from h&m and (I'm 34 weeks today - Sunday) I'm having the same problem as you. So I'm going to be watching this thread with interest I've had to customise the "bump" band already as its starting to really dig in (I feel so bad for the wriggler...:( ) I can only wear black trousers/skirts (dont really want to wear skirts or dresses as, like basin its been a while since my legs have seen a razor... Still only 5/6 weeks to go - whoop whoop!!)
Oh and I'm not allowed to wear leggings which is a pisser :((

I'm the same, really big beach ball bump, most maternity things I try on aren't worth the extra money because they're actually not comfortable. I've been wearing normal clothes in bigger sizes, those elasticated waist harem trousers that are everywhere with the waist band folded over under bump, plus matalan do sone really cheap long length vests which are great as staples. Also leggings with dresses over the top.

I have lived in these all summer

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dresses/Day-Dresses/WH752-GRN/Womens-Lotus-Large-Woodblock-Jersey-Maxi-Dress.html?NavGroupID=4

Had a couple from last year and they still fit fine at seven months (and my bump is vast, I tell you, it has its own postcode...)

Bit pricey but as they're not maternity you can use them next year too. Anything with a bit of stretch and that empire line shape should be fine - white stuff do great tunics for example in that shape.

I found Asda George online for maternity clothes to be perfect as they're not overpriced at all and delivery to your nearest store is free and very quick (if they don't stock maternity). their maxi dresses are comfy and generally you can tell from the product reviews whether the sizing is true to size. I'm in a similar position at 38+5 and got a few bits a couple of weeks ago as was struggling in leggings and jeans/linen trousers in this heat.
good luck with everything

I ended up buying cheap leggings from peacocks, primary etc and then just cutting the waist band, so they say under my bump but nothing dug in. They still stayed up fine, and were a good cheap and comfortable option.

blowinahoolie · 25/08/2015 21:16

At 31 weeks I had to start wearing maxi dresses. Nothing else would fit!! Nice and loose fitting, you aren't restricted. Perfect weather for this.

No idea what I'd do if this had been a pregnancy during the winter...

blowinahoolie · 25/08/2015 21:17

I'd just look ridiculous in leggings, fat thighs, etc. I wouldn't even entertain the idea of buying leggings when not pregnant...
