Hi all!
I am only 6 weeks I found that I am pregnant just a week ago
I been having like period cramps and I feel very bloated
Is the bloating normal? I do excersie 5/6 times a week and Eat pretty well, Veggies, fruit , protein, some good carbs, I dont eat pasta or Rice or bread often and I havent eat any of those for the last 4 weeks. ( as I try to avoid them as well as brocoli and lettuce, lentils , peppers... and a few other things that makes me bloat, and when I eat I do the brown/whole meal type)
However I feel very bloated, just drinking water will bloat me :S I drink 3/4 lts a day. My belly is like a 4 months pregnancy :(
Is this normal? is there anything I can take to help me ? are probiotics safe to take during pregnancy? and may this go away later on the next 37/8 weeks :)
Thanks

I am in pretty much the same situation! I'm about 6 weeks, and for about ten days now I've had mild morning queasiness, aches like period pain throughout the day, and a general feeling like a beachball about to go pop! I just feel like a really good burp would make me feel so much better... Super classy, eh?

Alas, I haven't found anything that's stopped it yet. I figure that this feeling is due to the same things as morning sickness, the body changing things all around and getting out of balance. I don't honestly think there's a secret magic cure out there. :( So for me it's just about things that make me feel a bit better.

  • Warm water instead of cold, I find it soothing but I know some people find plain warm water a bit grim! (I don't mind it, but I do also like a lemon and mandarin herbal tea to vary things.) It does occasionally provide relief in the form of a little belch - I expect the warmth expands the air and forces some of it out!
  • Eating little and often. Okay, honestly, what I'm doing is eating my normal meals and nibbling a lot in between. I don't know whether it's a benefit from giving my tum something to do apart from churn away on nothing, whether a bit of sugar is helping the queasy sensation, or what. I am trying to avoid bad foods, so I'm mostly hoovering up black sesame flavour rice cakes, which don't seem to have any added sugars. That's more than I can say for the chewy fruit sweets I can't resist...
  • Walking. Just a little bit of a walk does make me feel better - I read somewhere that walking also helps digestion, something about your core muscles massaging your digestive tract and helping things along. So maybe it does the same for gas?

I have also tried Tums antacid tablets - these have helped me in the past with trapped wind - but they are having no effect at all at the moment. You can always give them a go! The only thing is that you can't have more than seven a day if you're pregnant.

I haven't seen anything that says you can't have probiotics while pregnant, and I've looked pretty hard at those 'Don't eat this!' lists. (But I'm not a medical professional, so this is just my completely unqualified opinion.) I've been having live yogurt every morning, I figure it's good to keep those helpful bacteria topped up, and the other nutrients in dairy products are useful too.

Basically, I reckon this bloating is normal, and there's a chance it will clear up in the same timeframe as morning sickness. So only another six weeks, then, aaargh!
