What to wear to make breastfeeding in public easier?

I should know the answer to this - I've already breastfed three children!

I'm due my fourth in March (very early days) but already thinking about this. I was keen to get back into "normal" clothes after giving birth previously but they made it hard to feed.

So what kind of stuff is good to wear?

I just wear nursing tops. The peace of mind is worth the cost of buying special clothes, to me.

I've bought lots of them from here www.vertbaudet.co.uk/maternity-breastfeeding-t-shirts.htm

For DC3, I had these things called breastvest - google it and it comes up. They're like a vest but only come up as far as your bra so you can just unclip it to feed without having your belly on display - which was a good thing for the general population round here! They 're quite long too, as I always find tops too short in the year after childbirth so just made me feel more comfortable. I had one in black, one in white which was fine - and DC3 was also a March baby and I was able to use them well into the summer except on hotter days.

Really wish I'd had them with DC1 & 2 and gave them away as DC3 was intended to be the last. Need to get some more before DC4 turns up in September.......

Also check out mamafeelsgood.com - might not be to your taste but they have a range of nursing tops that are excellent quality and really comfy Smile

I meant wear the crop top under a vest, sorry, wasn't very clear! Sadly my days of wearing just a crop top are long gone Grin

With my DD (breastfed for 19 months) at the beginning I bought a few identical tops (from primarni) and cut two boob shaped holes out of one and wore the other one on top... This lasted about 8weeks but after that, and honestly when you've got a screaming baby who needs to be fed, I didn't care and just whacked the boobies out when and where needed. I did not care. I will not care this time round (29 weeks currently) I know its easier said then done.

I do the same, primark vest and other tops over the top, however on YouTube recently i saw a good tutorial - cut most of the strap off your strap top, leaving a little bit at the front of the strap. Turn that leftover strap into a loop then you can loop that through the unclippy bit of your nursing bra. Keeps the strap top up without having 2 sets of straps (they really annoy me and lots of straps on show looks crap). Once you unclip your bra you can free your boob without stretching the strap top.
Thinking about it though, other than that can't see the point in doing all that sewing!

Yeah they're ^^ basically a homemade Breastvest like Londay mentioned.

Thanks for posting that video! I'm going to do this for sure.

Fab! I have yet to find time to try it but will do at some point!

I usually use the vest under loose top approach, but in hot weather have found it sweltering. So instead I have dug out my enormous black post-Caesarian-section knickers that now pull up way above my navel and wear those to cover my still flabby belly whilst breastfeeding! Much cooler (though very unsexy!).
