Repeated Reduced Movement Advice

Hey ladies
I'm 35+2 with baby number three (my first boy)
Since around 32/33 weeks I've had reduced movements. His usual pattern used to be like clock work but then it suddenly stopped. His pattern completely disappeared and his movements became here and there. He can be really quiet some days where I don't get a lot of movements at all and other days he can have a mad five minutes here and there..
I've been up to the hospital for a trace done twice and they then referred me for a growth scan. All traces came back fine and his growing scan looked normal (apart from him being estimated at 6lb 1oz at 34+5 ????)
I was sent to have another trace done today, which again looked fine?!!
I have a Doppler scan booked in for next Tuesday, along nicely with another growth scan the following Wednesday and another consultants appointment just after..
I feel like I'm wasting people's time? He seems healthy I can't explain why his movements are so slow?
I don't wanna waste doctors time but I can't relax when his movements are so different!?
Anyone been through this? What was the outcome?
Sorry for a long post girls just really need some advice xx

The general advice is always get it checked out if you don't feel happy about the movements, as you'd be bereft if something did happen the one time that you didn't go. It could be that the baby is in a different position or simply might have changed his movement times (middle of The night?) but either way, keep getting checked as the possible downsides are worse than the monitoring. Good luck!

Always go and get checked, you're never wasting anyone's time. I went in quite a few times as my DD didn't move much ever, and they recommended induction, which I accepted, at 39+1.

I had the same when pregnant with DD. I had an anterior placenta so that could have been it, but they still happily checked me and recommended induction at 38 weeks after the 3rd time id been in which I accepted.

I had repeated reduced movement had the growth scan everything fine every time I was monitored heart rate was fine. In the end I was booked in for induction at 39 wks for the week leading up to this I was monitored daily each time the heart rate was fine he was just asleep. It turns out my baby is just as lazy outside the womb as he was inside, he's such a laid back placid baby.

I had two DC with anterior placentas, one was also breech and he definitely moved very little (that was why we found out he was breech) but I couldn't feel that much with either of them

Thank you girls. My previous two pregnancies I've never experienced it. I feel like I'm living at the hospital at the moment x

I could have wrote your post. 38+5 3rd baby, 1st boy. He's never had a pattern and it's awful. My 2 girls were like clockwork but this one has me worried sick, I've been to hosp 5 times over it and every time they've said he's fine. I feel like a hypochondriac, the last midwife actually wrote in my notes "despite regular reduced movement episodes, baby appears healthy and active".
But I'll continue to go when worried, I just keep joking to midwives saying it's ok I'm never having a baby again x

Go to be checked every time, DD2 have 4episodes of reduced movement and the last one resulted in an emcs and her being resuscitated. They think my placenta had begun to fail.

No trying to scare you DD1 had loads of episodes and was absolutely fine but things can change so quickly it's not worth the risk

The awareness about movement is so important but my goodness it's stressful if you have one that isn't a massive mover or doesn't have a pattern. I sympathise, I've been in twice for a Doppler test and was getting quite distraught this morning until the little madam booted me a few times. You just can't relax until you've felt it, and sometimes they just don't play ball.

I asked the mw about it and she said it is much harder if you have a more chilled pattern free baby. However if the pattern for your baby is that it moves less and irregularly, so be it, just be aware if it's been a few hours and never leave it a whole day.

His pattern used to be like clockwork.. Then all of a sudden it just stopped and he moves as and when now.. He does love but not regularly..
I keep joking with the midwife a saying it's because he's male and my last one :,)
Makes it worse that he won't move at all then as soon as I'm on the monitor he will have a few movements.. I don't want them to think I'm a lair xx

Yep that's like my little man tidge. Then after be monitored, I'll have a day or two of him being active then nothing. I've started putting pressure on my bump to mimic the monitor and see if that gets him moving xx

Far better to keep going and getting checked out than live with regret.

Well done for getting checked out each and every time so far Smile
