5+2 and brown spotting. Can anyone reassure me?

I'm currently 5+2 pregnant with DC2. Yesterday when I went to the toilet and wiped I had a tiny amount of brown blood mixed in with some mucus. This morning it was slightly darker brown and there was a bit more of it. There's nothing when I wipe if I just go for a wee. I'm not in any pain but I don't really feel like I have any other pregnancy symptoms.

Starting to resign myself to the fact that this may not end well but would love it if anyone could offer any reassurance. We have really struggled to conceive this time round do feeling pretty low Sad.

When I went to the EPU with it, one of the things they did was to take a swab to test for an infection (I think bacterial vaginosis?) Mine was negative, but apparently it's relatively common and can cause spotting. It's good to know about it, because you can be treated for it and it avoids possible complications affecting the baby further along. So possibly worth asking for that test?

I had this twice before 9 weeks. Now 26+4 and no issues so far whatsoever (frantically touching wood). Grin

Thanks so much everyone. If you don't mind me asking, how long did yours last for and how heavy was it? I haven't had much today until just now when there was quite a bit when I wiped. No pain though.

Really appreciate all your support and advice.

First time, just one day. Second time, a few days. If you've no pain or cramping, then try not to worry too much. I know it's easier said than done. I cried all the time and was terrified every time I went to the loo. Your body can shed old blood simply because your uterus is starting to shift around and expand to get ready for your baby.

I had this at 5+2 and 5+6, pink and dark first time then bright red and medium, at which point I was convinced it was over, but it was fine and dc is 6 months now. Everything I've read says how very common bleeding is in early pregnancy, which was of some (if not much) comfort to me at the time.

I had a brown bleed (quite a lot) at around 5 weeks pregnant. I continued to have light intermittent bleeding all through my pregnancy and was diagnosed with cervical erosion at 20 weeks. Baby is 4 months old now. Not looking forward to having another baby as the bleeding made my pregnancy so stressful.

Thanks all. Had a red bleed today - seemed like quite a bit although no clots and nothing on pad. Bit like a light period. Pretty sure it's all over now but going to be checked over at the EPU tomorrow.

Thanks for supporting me over the past couple of days. Your messages have really helped.

Thanks everyone. Feeling pretty rubbish but will get there.

Just in case it's of any use to anyone, the nurse told me it's good to start trying again straight away after my next period as apparently you're much more fertile after a miscarriage.

Best of luck to everyone who's trying/pregnant x
