Continuing the theme - 2nd babies - earlier or later than 1st?

Expecting DC2 in a couple of months. DD1 came at 40+1 (after waters breaking on due date) - just for fun/interest (as I know I should expect anything to happen!), was your 2nd baby earlier or later than your 1st? Oh - and birth quicker/easier or not? (not that I am hopeful or anything!!). Interested to hear your experiences!

Exactly the same (38 weeks exactly)

DS1 was born at 42+1 weeks. He was induced and it took 3 days, an epidural and forceps. DS2 was born at 41 weeks all of his own accord with no interventions. All the midwife did was catch him. So, DS2's birth was earlier, quicker and much less painful.

DC1 - 40+7 - long but uncomplicated labour
DC2 - on due date - long but uncomplicated labour
DC3 - 40+12 - way shorter labour - like 1/10 as long as DC2….

thanks for the replies so far - interesting and mostly as I hoped ;) I am hoping for a quicker birth this time around (had an epidural quite late on before and it slowed things down). Happy to consider no epidural as long as things are moving along!

DS1- due date
DS2 - 10 days late

Oh and DS2 a lot easier. In hospital for 4h before he was born compared with 2 days the first time

First 2 weeks early, second one day early!

DS - week late, induced
DD - 2 weeks early

Oh and I had an epidural with DD the minute I got to the hospital and she was born 3 hours later, so I don't think it slowed anything down. It was a walking one though, so I spent the entire time on my feet, which I'm sure helped as well.

HazleNutt - I like the idea of a walking one; mine wasn't and they told me it slowed labour down but who knows...then had to have pitocin and ventouse...apart from that I thought the epidural was great, the relief was amazing after a tough 10 hours or so

I am due baby no. 2 this time next week - hopefully I will be coming back to this thread to say early, I am getting very impatient!
