I think HC may be head circumference but not sure.

LIZS · 17/11/2006 22:17

think hc is head circumference nad the other one they take is usually femur length but can't square that with bpd.

lulumama · 17/11/2006 22:17

biparietal diameter i think - which is also something to do with the head maybe and head circumferencfe....

might be wrong !!

maybe bump for mears later!!

Miaou · 17/11/2006 22:18

That would be my guess too cov - not sure about the other bit though.

DarrellRivers · 17/11/2006 22:19

BPD is bi-parietal diameter, ie the length between the parietal bones in the skull, so the diameter of the head, and the HC is the head circumference

ComeOVeneer · 17/11/2006 22:21

Just goggled it and it is head circumference and bpd is the ear to ear measurement as others have said.

megandsoph · 17/11/2006 22:23

hehehe was thinking my baby has a huge head then and a tiny wee body but just had a look again on the results and i'm assuming F.L is the femur lengh. Is the femur length the body length?? Sorry for sounding thick and really should rememeber this as it's my 3rd DC but I really have forgotten it all.

Oh and thanks for replying so fast

Femur is your thigh bone so FL is the length of the thigh

megandsoph · 17/11/2006 22:25

So BPD is the baby's facial width?

Thanks again just finding it really interesting.

DarrellRivers · 17/11/2006 22:28

no no all these things tend to confuse and prob should be written in plain english rather than technical terms

megandsoph · 17/11/2006 22:28

Thanks DR

megandsoph · 17/11/2006 22:31

I was thinking the same thing DR They have with the stomach, kidneys & bladder.

Theres a few other abbreviations (sp?) too but there isn't anything next to them yet so will save that question for another time lol
