This is just as a preventative measure - I haven't found anything yet - although the mere thought of them has made me soooooi itchy - but what can I do - can I use the nit stuff on myself and dd - is there something that isn't laden with chemicals that I can use. I've always heard conditioner/baby oil with a nitty comb works - gah don't know what to do!!!

HexBramble thank you. I hope it helps your friend break the cycle.
In my previous job, I taught HCP's about this irritating subject. It's a real PITA.
BTW- 'irradiation' should read 'irradication', of course, nothing to do with nuking the little b*stards. Grin

I've cleared without chemicals mostly. Only used hedrin when DD's hair got about 3' long. I don't like the Nitty Gritty I want to see the feckers I've combed out.

Boys are great, buzz the hair short & pick off the remaining few by hand.

Only prevention is to tie long hair back tightly to head or keep hair quite short. Blighters crawl from head to head, you see, so minimise how much your kids' hair can touch other people's hair.
