Question about moses basket & cot.

With only 5 and 1/2 weeks to go until EDD, I'm starting to panic about sleeping arrangements!

We have a cot in the nursey and a moses basket with a rocking stand. We just assumed that the moses basket and stand would be in whatever room we were in (i.e living room, bedroom) for the baby to sleep in.

However, we were thinking about it last night, and I'm wondering about the logistics of it all. For example, in the morning when I get up with the baby, I would need to carry her, the moses basket and the stand downstairs to the living room. Then if I wanted to nap while she was napping, I'd need to carry it all back upstairs, doing 2 separate journeys.

Is an alternative option, to put the moses basket in the cot? We would obviously then move the cot into our bedroom, and put the moses basket on the rocking stand in the living room, then leave that stand in the living room. Then I could carry her and the moses basket upstairs for naps etc, and put her in the moses basket, in the cot.

Is that safe? Or is there another way that we just haven't thought about?

I BEG of you, please NEVER carry your baby in the Moses basket. Most are not designed to be carried by the handles with any weight in them. My MIL (ex health visitor) rarely offers advice as she is afraid of imposing, however she was adamant we not have a Moses basket after the numbers of babies who slipped out whilst being carried. She saw so many babies dropped on their heads this way.

We had a crib in our room and the pram downstairs. My DD2 is 10 days old now and this has worked fine.

DD slept all over the place. On the bed next to me when I napped, in one of two Moses baskets (one up one downstairs, secondhand but bought new mattresses for both), on cushions on the couch, on me, in her car seat, in her bouncer...

I wouldn't overthink it too much, babies are pretty flexible little things. They mostly just want to be as close to you as possible.

Is it ok to let babies sleep in a bouncy chair?

SweetAndFullOfGrace · 24/06/2015 22:10

We had a baby bjorn bouncy chair which is safe from newborn for sleeping (head support etc). No idea if others are or not?

Fugghetaboutit · 25/06/2015 09:12

No, babies can die in bouncy chairs

Fugghetaboutit · 25/06/2015 09:16

Newborns who can't support their heads I mean, can stop breathing in bouncy chairs if left for a while
